mine was at the age of 9.long before video games and such.it was one of those heddon 16 in with the solid tire.once I got good enough to ride my parent got me a 24 in schwinn(which i still have)Rode that thing everywhere i could and even delivered afternoon papers on it.swatted a few dogs with it too.
I have been out of the unicycle loop for 25 yrs and am just now getting back in it.just looking at all the options these days makes my head spin.possibly looking for a 26 or 29 to start back with.just looking to cruise around and get exercise.
my girraffe grunted at me when i tried to get on it last week so im gonna get rid of it.Besides…its not something for a 47 yr old fat man to ride
about 4 months ago on my first try i went KABOOOMMM!!! then i sed ouch
When I was little I wanted one and my grandmother got me a no name 20", I never learned how to ride it very well and like all things hard, I gave up.
A few months ago I got a 20" LX from a client and had a hard time learning. I spent most of the time learning in doors cause it kept raining this summer. I now have a big scuff mark from a knobby tire on the white door into my studio ( I am photographer). When ever any one askes what it is from I like to tell them to see the reaction. It varies from laughing, like it is a joke, to telling me that they used to have one when they were little.
Now I am a little better, I have a great 3.5 mile single track loop by my house that I try to ride on my 24" and a bike path next to my studio that flail on almost every day.
The first week of having that LX I hurt so many things, knees, shins(I put real pedals on it straight away), walls. Now I love it. I run to the bar down the street on the coker for fun.
Like one of my clients said when he first saw the uni:
“It is like a bike for someone with no friends”, not really sure what he meant by it, but he just bought a Nimbus 24".
Ha
Sig worthy!
How’s the riding in Conifer right now?
