i know that i am not the only person here who is obsessed with FIRST robotics competition. but if i am, i feel that with the new season beginning, its time to educate you all on theconcept and principles (such as gracious professionalism. if you are not familiar with FIRST robotics, check out(and bookmark) www.usfirst.org
I did FLL competitons in 4th and 5th grade. In 5th grade, we set the high score of california off a technicality of the team point goal, the team we were competing/working with figured how to do it on its own, so we got that plus all the other points we gained, totaling around (400 is the max) 350 I believe.
me too i 'm team G.R.R. we have two robots 340 and 424
man that game
who’s on cd here and whats your name
mine colin340 same as it’s here
im unicycledude14, but im never on. im from team 269, go cooneyquest!!!
Team 500 out of the US Coast Guard Academy, New London Connecticut
so what do you guys think of this years game?
i mean the frc game
I think it will be interesting. I bet majority of the teams are going to try to get the 8 points by going over the overpass. so don’t know the role the littler guys will play in this game. Those balls are pretty big with a diameter of 40 inches and weighing 10 pounds.
for those of you not familiar with the game here is a link to a short video of it.
i have not been given permission to disclose ideas yet, but any ideas you may have are appreciated
my teams going over and under but how is yet to be seen
no pun intended right?
who’s dbell i know he rides and does first
its week 5 already. chairmens presentations are almost due, there is a ton of welding to do, and im busy, does anyone have a moving robot yet?
The base moves… Have you checked out youtube to see what other teams are doing? some already have a fully functioning robot and some pretty cool designs that pack a powerful punch.
So the robots are gone. How’d the building go for you guys? I leave tomorrow for a regional in Manchester NH.
for the first time in our 10 year history WE Were Under Weight !!! YAY!!!
(except the year of coopertition which doesn’t count because that year sucked) now we are working on our practice bot, which is identical to our competition robot, except for the fact that the freshmen can’t weld worth a puddle(welding joke)
except for the fact that the freshmen can’t weld worth a puddle!
You can weld a puddle?
Ha! I got that one. Don’t think orbis did though…
well you certinaly can’t weld without a puddle
so what’s the idea of the practise bot, do you have to send off your main robot for inspection or something, so you build another to practise your moves with?
we only get 6 weeks to build our robot, to ensure that no teams are building longer than 6 weeks we must all ship our robots on the same day. we need our practice bot to drive around and practice with, and because it is identical, we can apply our learned skills in competition, thwe only bad part about our practice bot though is that it is built mainly by our freshmen with help from upperclassmen, so we have to let them do all the work and then fix whats wrong, but thats ok because they have to learn somehow.
