This sounds great, is it still on for Easter Weekend? If so count me in as I’ll be living in Sydney for the next year or so. Can’t make it for Anzac weekend. Mark, the schedule looks awesome. As I’ve been to countless MUni weekends (MOAB, California MUni Weekend, Minnesota MUni Weekend, Arizona MUni Weekend, NAUCC & Unicon) I’d love to add an Australia MUni Weekend. And if there is anything I can do to help, let me know. Social events always makes the MUni weekends that much better. Depending on time and what people are interested in, it might be nice to have at least one other fun uni thing like basketball, hockey, trials, or a coker ride. Maybe in the morning before a ride or in the evening after a ride. Just an idea. Anyways, hope this happens and hope to see all of you there!

Ok, i’m back from Unicon and straight back into full time work but would like to continue with this idea to make it happen.
If we are going to have shirts made up for this event we need a design! So get your creative juices flowing and post some designs and we can have a vote on it.
The other thing that needs to happen is some serious rider hunting! Only a handful of the riders in Oz are on these forums (or check them regularly) so talk to those people you know who might be interested and do your best to sell it!
I am going to get some things together and try to get some sponsorship for this event so hopefully we will have some sweet goodies to give away to sweeten the deal for those on the fence riders.
As for billeted accommodation- I have room for one, maybe two people at my place (it is a student sharehouse so don’t expect too much!). I need to talk to the ACT unicycle rider society to see who else has spare places and might be keen to help out in that regard.
At this moment the Muni weekend is a GO for the easter long weekend- the nature of it (social events, prizes, shirts, no. of riders etc) can only be made better and better by the input everyone puts into it! So get thinking

Muni weekend sounds great- but you may need to book the relevant bits of Stromlo- as if a big event happens you will be excluded- just go to http://www.stromloforestpark.com.au/bookings/index2.php to make a booking.
While it hasn’t been officially announced yet, we are expecting to run Uninats in Canberra on the October long weekend (1st-4th) and are hoping to use Stromlo for some of the events-
If you know Stromlo well we would appreciate advice on what activities we can run there (we will also be looking for volunteers for the organising committee!)

ok so this is where i am at atm with organisation. After talking with Mark Wharton from Unicycle.com.au he has kindly agreed to donate a prize for the riders rider competition (an anonymous vote held on the last day where people nominate who improved the most, had the best attitude for the event etc).
I looked into booking out some parts of stromlo but don’t think we will have the numbers (over 30) to require booking it. This is good because it keeps costs down for everyone! I think the only costs to people for the event will be
-AUS membership (to cover insurance)
- T-shirt (if you want one- design tba).
As for social events, i am aware that a lot of riders who will want to attend will not be over 18 and as of such am a little hesitant about organising something in at civic that would mainly cater to the adults. How would people feel about a casual bbq in the evening at my house in the north of Canberra (conveniently close to Mt majura and some awesome trails for those that get here early and are keen to get into it!)
Things that still need to be done are-
-Billeted accommodation
-t shirt design
-spread the word!

Hi Mark. I’ve been living in Canberra for nearly a year. Haven’t been unicycling much, but I’m keen to get back into it now.
This event sounds like an excellent idea.

Anyway…I was going to start a new thread to search for Canberra riders, but thought I might just ask here. Anyone keen for some Muni riding in Canberra, speak up because I’ve been doing a lot of it this week, and I’m interested to meet some other unicyclists.

Hi bikepsycho! Good to hear from another Canberra Muni rider. There is a small group of Muni riders in the area including myself, scott lynch, rick denton and his brother (queanbeyan) and the acturs guys too. I mainly ride at Mt Majura and Mt ainslie but also know a few good trails at black mountain too. I’m pretty busy the next few weekends but i usually have friday afternoons off if you wanted to meet up in my area (watson) to go for a ride. Glad you are interested in the muni weekend too

Sorry guys, haven’t been on here in a couple of days…damn work! I’m still kinda planning the weekend out. I’m doing a kayak race somewhere in sydney, i’ll find out where and go from there with my plans. Stay tuned…

hey guys i would love to attend this muni weekend although the cost of traveling from perth to get there, i would be able to buy a new unicycle.
if it does go a head make sure you take lots of pictures for us unlucky few that can’t attend.
i’m planning to go to the uni nats so hopefully i can finaly ride with some of you fellow munist.
