Mister Ed was the pinnacle of American television humor. It is useless to debate.
That said, One on one has a decent list of shows, although I’d strike Lost in Space.
Instead of Lost in Space, I’d add Thunderbirds. For a while this was my favorite show. Thank goodness for the modern world…you can now get the whole series in one package-set of DVDs. It was fun turning my son on to the many adventures of International Rescue.
OMG Are You Being Served? Are You being Serious? I had to watch it twice to confirm how bad it was!
I have quite enjoyed “Last of the Summer Wine” although I am far from old enough to have seen very many of the numerous series. I am only sad that my sex will disqualify me from becoming one of such a group of silly old men when I eventually retire.
I also saw just a couple of episodes of something called " I didn’t know you cared". Liked it enough to want to see more, but never found it again. Some old codger called “Uncle Mort” had a fine line in dialogue.

And of course more or less anything by Attenborough or similar programmes.

I’ll admit some episodes are better than others… another case in point being “Absolutely Fabulous”.
You have to admit, though, that Mr Humphries is a brilliant character.
Brilliant…maybe only as in “Dayglo” though. Way too far over the top for me personally. I like my humour more subtle than that. Anything that needs a catchphrase is not likely to find its way into my favourites.
And I am biased against anything which has pauses just to allow the audience to catch up and laugh. In the extreme some programs appear to line the actors up looking at the audience or camera at such times, almost daring us not to join in with the guffaws.
We are not told when to laugh in real life, and the best laughter is spontaneous, unexpected, and with no respect for statistical probabilities, usually arrives when I am sitting down holding a full cup of very hot coffee, and wearing a brand new dress.

And athough I like Joanna Lumley, I would agree with you completely on Ab Fab, very variable and which, in its lesser moments, became Absolutely Awful.

Mmmm, forgot about that one.
In the early days of South African television (we only got TV in 1976), Thunderbirds appeared in a dubbed into Afrikaans version. Called ‘Redding Internasionaal’ (International Rescue) I can clearly remember begging my parents to stay at my grandparents for just a little bit longer on a Saturday afternoon visit (often to watch rugby) so we could watch the show.
It was a while before we got a TV in our house.
Firefly.
The humor, humanity, action and excellent universe of that show made it a total winner.
I watch a fair amount of Law and Order: Criminal Intent these days, though it still causes Full Metal Jacket flashbacks.
Futurama: Best one-liners ever.
“You can’t OWN property, man.”
“I can, but that’s because I’m not a penniless hippie.”
All on DVD or on-demand through netflix. I haven’t watched a TV commercial in over three years now.
