favorite sandwich

When I’m out and about I like to grab a sammich from Safeway… I forget the name but it’s basically turkey, cranberry sauce, havarti cheese and some fixin’s on a dutch crunch roll.

If I want a whole 12 inches of sammich, I’ll go for a Subway meatball sandwich. I’ve been eating those since I was a wee lad, and I’ll keep eating them until I croak.

But my fave sammich of all times is the “Mile High Meatloaf” from Mel’s diner:
Two side-by-side slices of egg bread
One slice meatloaf
Mashed potatoes
One more slice meatloaf
More mashed potatoes
Three huge onion rings
Topped with brown gravy

anny pannini (sp?) is very good:D

speaking of paninis

im gonna have one

now

CRAP…no cheese!! =(

i LOVE paninis, have you ever been to panera bread? they make some tasty sandwiches if i do say so myself.
and i do.

You don’t have to tell me this… already, I crap no cheese. I’d be worried if I crapped cheese.

I was just about to add Panera. I love the sandwiches there! My fav is the Turkey Artichoke: Smoked turkey, spinach artichoke spread, Asiago-Parmesan cheese, tomatoes & caramelized onions, grilled hot on Basil Pesto Focaccia.

haha thats my favorite too!
i also like to get the cheddar broccoli soup in a sourdough bread bowl. mmmm

they have some tasty pastries there too, i think that tomorrow i shall dine on panera.

toasted bagle(doesn’t matter what kind)
butter
salt
garlic powder
sub sauce
microwaved egg
melted cheese(chedder)
sliced pickle
salomi
butter
toasted bagle

with a glass of orange juice…
hmmmmmm:)

We have a dozen Panera Asiago cheese bagels in the house right now. They make great sandwich bread.

i vote for any sandwich with white bread and mayonaise

Like Rob Northcott said, you guys are way too complicated with your butties. The whole premise of a Sandwich is that it is a quick snack that allows you to carry on doing whatever and not interrupt it with a meal - e.g. gambling, as the Earl of Sandwich is reputed to have done. The principle of “less is more” should apply. Anything more than a few fillings that complement each other is just going to overload your tastebuds so you don’t appreciate what you are eating to the fullest - one main filling + (optionally) a couple of complementary bits.

Quality of bread is of paramount importance - use crap bread and you have a crap sandwich.

My very most favouritest:
Bread:
Homebaked focaccia made with good quality extra virgin olive oil and sundried olives or tomatoes.
Spread:
NONE !!!
Main Filling:
Lashings of humous - I also like to include some fresh sprouted chick peas
Supplementary Fillings:
Thinly sliced tomato
Chunkily sliced avocado
Copious alfalfa sprouts OR lambs lettuce OR for that extra bite, rocket or watercress
Egg-free mayonaise, but not enough to smother any of the other flavours

This sandwich is not only delicious, but highly nutritious, with a good balance of carbohydrates, proteins, non-saturated fats and oils, vitamins, minerals etc.

My second most favouritest
Crusty whole grain bread, thickly cut
Sunflower marg
Crunchy peanut butter - ABSOLUTELY NOT SWEETENED

Enjoy,
Chris

p.s. pardon my ignorance, but what is a reuben ?

Mouth watering just thinking about it…

A Reuben is a grilled sammich of corned beef and swiss, sauer kraut and Thousand Island dressing on rye.

Speaking of sauer kraut, I learned about West Virginia hot dogs when I lived there in junior high school. WV dogs are the best! The backwoods boys top a dog with chili, sauer kraut, and cole slaw.

Sorry, looks and sounds ghastly, but each to their own…

This kinda sounds like it’s not as “quick” as you’re making it out to be. Maybe fast, but I thik it would definitely interrupt whatever other importance you have going on.

:astonished: No meat! Are you a vegan?

A proper sandwich goes like this:

Whole french stick
bacon
sausages
eggs
bacon
ketchup

mmmmmmmmm mmmmmmm

Dammit, I made myself hungry!

Rock on!
Edd

Damn - rumbled again

French stick is good though

Fair point - but then again I’m sure the Earl of Sandwich had teams of servants to do his culinary bidding, until he lost his shirt at the card table.

Fresh white bread
2 slices of cold Oscar Meyer bologna
Crisp iceburg lettuce
Mayonaise
Fresh ground black pepper
Fresh white bread

Simple and scruptious!

bologna is weird.
i never have like bologna sandwiches.

i made a delicious sandwich ealier though,

Multigrain Wheat Bread(toasted)
Spicy Honey Mustard
Thin(almost paper thin) Tomato Slices
Thick chunks of rotiessere roasted chicken.
Mild Cheddar Cheese
Multigrain Wheat Bread(toasted)

I am also quite partial to a Tuna or Chicken salad Sandwich.
Or some egg salad is always nice…

Especially with a nice tall cold glass of fresh milk from the dairy

very few things beat crunchy peanut butter and raspberry jam. But i’m a huge fan of tuna and dill pickles, sometimes with cheese.
