My internet has just decided to go very slow. We have fast broadband and now its acting like dialup. We have unlimited time per month. The only thing that I can think of, of why it is going slow is because I downloaded 8GB of videos in 2 weeks on the other computer (My laptop and the computer run on the same interent connection). Could the downloads be the problem, (theres been nothing downloading for over a week but its still going so slow), any help appreciated.
I have comcast and it went like that on me but i was downloading like 30 gigs of music from a torrent…but anyway it might bounce back in a day or two… if not reset you router then call you ISP
If you are using a wireless router maybe someone is freeloading and downloading.
I doubt its from a download you did earlier in the week.
I had a week router a while back and while I would have a lot of downlaods going all around 1mb/s, the router couldnt handle it and no one would have internet until I unplugged the main ethernet cable from the modem out of my router and straight connection to my comp, let that load, then replace the cable into the modem.
That doesnt seem like what is happening to you though.
This has been going on for a full week now? I know internet companies have times during the day with heavier traffic compared to the rest of the day and during those times you may experience some speed loss, but shouldnt last as long as a week.
If anything, it may be your computer. Run some spyware/virus scans, you can go into your internet tools and clear out your cookies, history, ect, and also reset your modem and router. Oh, some p2p/torrent and other programs really can eat up your broadband use and memory. Ending the right processes can really speed up your computer.
See if that does anything for you.
Quit dowloading porn. It’ll free up your bandwidth and increase your internet load speeds.
Power-off and reboot the modem and router.
Often home routers will get themselves into a state that makes them slow. Bittorrent and other P2P is notorious for causing home routers to need a reboot to clear up.
You sure its not your ISP putting you on shared bandwidth because of your massive downloading spree?
Lots of ISP’s claim to have no limits but the do have fair useage policies. We get put on shared bandwidth with other high useage users for a week if we download over 2GB’s worth in a week, and our package was advertised as no download limits.
Sorry, I can’t help much…
but here’s a huge jpeg of some robots.
How could you even suggest something like that? We ought to have you arrested, sir.
Its a common immature internet joke when people are in a game and they are lagging or their ping is spiking…
well, if he was downloading enough porn, he could have contracted computer aids.
Buy an anti spyware software, get more ram, make a lot of room on your desktop (put not used icons in folders, to save space), and close out of programs that are running in the background.
Press Control alt delete, and pull up the computer status thingy. Then, close out of the programs you dont need. I would recomend NOT closing out of things you dont know about, since i know there are a few things that run in the background that, if closing out of them, you could shut off your screen, shut down your computer, or turn off your keyboard/mouse.
and what the hell has THAT got to do with this???
about as much to do as your post does
How long do you think it took to load that picture using dial-up.?
well in that case, possibly a little bit more than your post.
That picture made me laugh… If I was on my psp at the moment I would be annoyed (very annoyed). I hate my internet going really slow.
I usually use control alt delete but it doesnt do much. I’ve got Norton 360 which cost 100 bucks and I have virus scanned my computer. I will clear out stuff I don’t need and put it on my external hard drive ( I will probably cut 10GB off my hardrive and put it onto my external which I should have done ages ago.
Don’t have wireless, I have modem with DSL and Ethernet cords. They can’t use my interenet connection then can they? I’m pretty sure its just wireless.
Gee thanks, didn’t quite catch that.
