my friend kourtney is afraid of learning too ride a uni. and she brought up the subject of falling on your face. i was wondering how many people here fell on there face WHILE THEY WERE LEARNING
never
Nope.
Cathy
Never, I only fell onto my hands 3 times while learning to ride. I just ran out of most UPDs.
when i learned i had now idea how to ride it and now one to help me. So i fell off backwards on my butt/back a few times. I didnt discover everything on the internet till after i could ride as long as i wanted to.
5 upds on hands 13 runouts and 2 combat rolls< those were funny
No face plants. I did fall on my hands so I quickly started wearing gloves but that’s only because I was practicing on blacktop and textured concrete.
One of my friends was trying to teach his friend to learn. He told him “Lean foward and pedal” I know he must have got at least half of it right, because he broke his nose.
That’s a really great quote!!! What a great way to sum up the situation.
nope
I never fell on anything other than my feet until I started muni and trials.
I generally fell backwards while learning to ride…at first, anyway. landed on my butt once or twice, that kinda hurt. then later, I leaned forward more, and landed on my feet in front when UPDing.
I never really fell to anything but my feet until I started Muniing and going to the local skate park.
hows this for irony…
yesterday when riding home from school. i was cutting through the dentists proerty(the dentist is on a corner) and as i was going through the grass i hit a pothole. the entry was fine but as my tire hit the other side, my 40 lb. backpack (filled with big books, tons of looseleaf, and my daily binder(10 lbs by itself)) flew up as i fell forward and pounded my face into the grass. and since we’ve had a drought, the ground is really hard. and my face print is still there.
moral: pothole+face+50 lb backpack=new pothole.
but im okay.
should of put your fore arms out
hurts alot less.
i would have but my hands were in my pockets
I think we’re all still learning… but no, I’ve always caught myself with my hands/other part of my body that’s not my face. So far, anyway.
Dave
I didn’t face plant when I was learning to ride. That only occurred after I became an experienced rider.
i can pronounce your city
oh, an i just run out of my upds
