We were away over Thanksgiving to visit family and just returned early evening tonight (Sunday). While we were away, Ashley and her family were watching our house, feeding the pets…the usual…or so we thought.
Ken and Mindy (Ashley’s mom and dad) withdrew some creativity from the creativity bank and went to work on Ben’s bedroom this past weekend. They worked up a storm for four days and came away with the results below. Ben is ecstatic!!! There is so much to take in, to touch, to discover. He especially loves the Red Bull lighted sign. Ben is beside himself in awe at what Ashley and her family did for him. It’s amazing!
Oh, you’re definitely nerd enough… Remember Ben is not yet of Guinness Age. Give him time JC.
Bruce, how fortunate Ben is to have such strong relationships at HS age as he clearly has with Ashley and her family. Wasn’t the norm when I was that age, and I’m thinking it’s still not. Testament to the character of both families.
The desk was a standard wooden desk, nice and sturdy. They painted it flat black to match other things in the room. Then Ken put a piece of galvanized steel on the top and caulked it in place while Mindy decorated the surface with a bench grinder. I wonder how they come up with stuff like that. So creative. It is one incredible desktop surface.
