No amount of “rolling eyes” icons could ever do this justice.
How many of you carry a gun as part of your cycling equipment?
Phil

Only in America…
On the other hand, I knew somebody who went touring in Spitzbergen and was advised to carry a gun in case of polar bear attack.
So do we assume that the cattle prod is sufficient for your needs, Phil?
there are some VERY scary people on that there cycling forum.
Makes us unicyclists look safe.
SArah
Wow, their thread is 40 pages. Yeesh.
I can’t imagine carrying a gun on my bike, and it’s not just from riding in iowa. I road across the country and camped mostly in city parks. We went through cincinatti, 4 majors cities in new york including the sh*t side of buffallo, boston, some lousy places in illinoise and oregon, etc etc. I never felt like I needed a gun, although in some parks I slept with my stake hammer by my side.
These people are paranoid crazies. I was ran off the road atleast 5 times, what was I supposed to do, shoot the car as it drove away? People need to realize aggression does not reguire retaliation. We were attacked by dogs on our ride too, and found out a good water bottle squirt down the dog’s throat does the job, and if not wack it with your frame pump. Don’t freakin’ shoot it!
Meh. Nutzos.
I estimate this one here will become 20 pages.
You guys aren’t thinking this through.
“Hey, where’s your other” BANG
Hmmm… I hadn’t thought of packing on the uni. Maybe a good shoulder harness.
Piece Now!
I carry a knife with me everywhere I go… not really for protection, but its the most usefull tool eva.
Me too. This is my small but growing collection. I rotate out every day (but I never carry the big ones), so it makes it interesting. I use them as tools, but of course if someone came at me or threatened me I would pull it on them as a last resort.
Tyler, just when I thought you were showing signs of maturity… This last resort could of course be the last thing you did. What do you think a child could do with one of those against an adult or even simply a bigger and more determined teen assailant?
Use them for whittling.
I wouldn’t. I sometimes carry a swiss army knife when riding; it definitely has its uses. I’d keep quiet about it in the face of an assailant, however; I can see no good reason to raise the stakes any more than necessary. I don’t really want to get stabbed by my own knife, ta muchly.
Phil
i agree. i have one of those knives that has the pliers.
they are very usefull.
p.s. unityler, i like the bullet knife.
P.p.s.
BE CAREFUL. ANY BLADE OVER 3 INCHES CAN BE CONSIDERED A CONCEALED WEAPON.
… my brain is my weapon …
Assaults can happen, if provoked. Assaults can be avoided, if aware. My feet and legs work good, if mob action.
And usually it never happens on Uni.
(usually happens with alcohol)
Best of all, a Uni is light enough to be thrown at assailant.
(before running for help … afterall, it’s easlier to find person carrying or riding a Uni)
I like it
I always carry my SIG Sauer P220 in a small of the back holster while uni riding. It makes catching up with JC much easier. He carries all of the other tools so if I need one I know I can stop him quickly.
I just ordered the new Suicide Roach Pads
Thanks. I got it at an antique shop for 9 bucks. It is really sharp!!
EEK!!! I just added a knife to my collection today and it’s blade is about 1 cm over 3 inches! I better not carry that one on me. This is it:
Here’s a measurment:

thats quite an odd measurement
if i was carrying a pocket knife and was approached by a threatening person. With my luck i would have cut my finger nails the morning before and wouldn’t be able to open the blade
P.S i wouldn’t have one anyway. i don’t carry a pocket knife, i carry a multi-tool as a tool that has a knife if needed.
In my opinion carring a gun is stupid
