Who here has read/is reading the Inheritance Trilogy by Christopher Paolini? I finished the second book a few weeks ago, and found out that the Eragon movie is coming out December 15. I can’t wait.
I love the series, but am not going to see the movie. Every book that I have like and then seen the video of sucks. the video always destroys it. I love the books though. can’t wait till dragon rider come out
the only thing I hate is that their soo short.

ps. Christopher Paolini pwnes…
What’s the genre?
its fantasy…
good books… the cool thing is how young the kid is… wasnt he like 15 when the first one was written/published or somthing?
They’re the same kinda genre of LOTR…most people who like that, like Eragon…you should read it Matt.
I think he was 15 when he started writing it…which is crazy when you think about how successful he’s been.
Alex,
Ben picked up on the Eragon thread title and asked about it. Evidently, he has read the book or books and told me that he can’t wait for the movie to come out. He doesn’t post much on the forums but you can email him about it at benedwards at verizon dotnett. He’s your age and will be a H.S. Junior this fall.
Bruce
Ok Alex well bring the book(s) back home with you and lemme borrow them, I gotta read them now before the movie comes out. >.>
Can’t…Eragon is my stepbrother’s, and I rented the sequel from the library.
Just drive to the library…
Why would I waste gas on that when I have a friend who could steal the book from his stepbrother and the library he got it from?
Because said friend enjoys life outside of jail.
It’s a whole ten minute drive…the library is practically right next to Vicky’s, just go tomorrow.
hmm, I read the first 2 books but never heard about the third one. Any sneak previews?
I don’t think I even have a card.
There was something in a limited edition of Eldest, I tihnk…i dunno.
a quick google gives me: www.shurtugal.com
Worst. Excuse. Ever.
I got a copy of Eragon for my birthday. Looking forward to reading it. I am a bit miffed however that such a young guy could a) write such a thing and b)get published and get world recognition. Good for him I guess. It better be as good as everyone says it is!
Yes, and he lives in some… town in Montana that I’ve never heard of!
Actually I think it’s in the Great Falls area or something maybe…
I just hope they don’t screw up the movie by making the dragon look too animated and fake…
I wonder how they’ll do the “talking” between the dragon and eveyone else?
Well, the movie is out, and from the reviews it sounds worse then I thought.
From yahoo movie reviews:
"If you read the book, this movie is insulting

If you have read the book, this movie will insult you. The start difference between the book and the movie are at once obvious and inexcusable. This movie tries exploiting the rich and immense world created by the author by throwing some special effects and one-liners. The plot of the movie goes so quickly that if you hadn’t read the book, you would almost be lost as to what was happening. And for those who have read the book, you will be assaulted by the vast and haphazard mashing of plot with action and story. All the emotion portrayed in the book is replaced by a few sentences almost at random to fill the void this movie opens up.
I will not be specific as to spoil anything, but there are dozens of time throughout the movie where the plot of the movie is completely altered, and not in a good way. Lord of the Rings should have set the standard, or at least brought up the level of acceptable of movies based on novels. For those who argue a movie can’t possibly follow the plot exactly from a novel, I am in complete agreement. However, this movie not only ignores a large majority of the plot, it also ignores the beauty, fantasy, struggles, and character development of the book. This movie throws characters onto the screen with a few sentences worth of background before jumping into the next scene.
For those who have not read the books and are interested in this movie, I strongly suggest you take the $8 it would cost for a movie ticket and buy the book for $10, or even better, get it at a library and save yourself the disappointment from watching a movie, a movie with the goal not of telling a story, but of making some quick money by selling out a superb novel."
