For all you ski bums out there, I sure hope you got out last week in the West. It was EPIC, Aspen ended up with over 6’ of fresh light snow, not like the 19’ Ca. got, but it was awesome for 7 days straight. Here’s a couple of pics from Tuesday. Cheers.
looks like fun but since my resent crash i shall never ski/snow borad again.
Looks like mega fun we got a ton of snow up here at Mt. Rose 6 feet of powder is awesome.
I will make many many turns for you.

Oh yeah, well we have at least a half inch of fresh pow here in Massachusetts.
Lucky bastard.
It looks like the sweet pow from my Alta days.
But, Mike, dude, I had you pegged for a free-heeler.
Free the heel and the mind will follow.
Free the heel and the wrist will follow.
Drop the knee or drop the sport.
Drop the knee, squat to pee.
Lock the heel, ski for real.
Randonee: french for “can’t telemark”.
Eh, I have’nt used alpine equipment in 15 years, but that does’nt mean I have to throw tele turns all day. It was a Utah type dump, we got in over 40,000 vertical feet of skiing that day. My old legs just could’nt tele all day.
So you’re still on pins, you just got over that knee-dropping habit? It’s starting to make more sense.
Agreed. We got like 10" - 14". But the nearest hill is an hour and a half (only like 350’ vertical I think) away and I can’t drive yet. But knowing them they probably groomed the crap out of it. When I graduate I think I’m gonna move out west. At your guys’ hills did you notice more showboarders then ever before? I ski and I think I was in the minority this weekend. One time in the line I think I only counted 5 pairs of skis to like 20 boards. And there was like 50 of ‘em just sitting in the terrain park. You couldn’t get a decent flowy run through there at all. And the worst part is none of them know what they’re doing, of course there are some exceptions, but if you put them on a blue square most would crap their pants. Just a bunch of jibbin’ posers.
Later,
A Proud knee knocker,
David
Yeah, I guess I am just lazy. Here’s a pic from the day after 7 days of powder, ya gotta love Colorado!!!
wow…
Yea, we got 30 inches of wet-packed snow over here… Been raining non-stop. One of the worst ski seasons i’ve ever seen.
That’s a nice fracture line on the near side of the ridge in the lower left of the last pic.
A previously-closed area gate must have just opened for such a big queue of hikers-for-turns on the ridge.
BTW, Mike, I’d have to say you’re not what most would call lazy. 40K vert indeed.
I your area I’d expect XC - I know there is a lot of it there as an uncle-in-law does XC tourist guiding on the moose highways in the park.
Yes, we had quite an avalanche cycle. That particular one was one of 5 or 6 naturals in that Maroon Bowl area. We threw more charges that week than we do in most years.
Yes, we had just opened Highland Bowl after 5 days of being closed, people were amped to get to the goods on the north side.
Lazy, smazy, you put up with the pain for powder turns all day.
Cheers
Sorry for my ignorance …
Mike, Do you work on the mountain ?
(refering to the ‘we’ on setting charges, and ‘we’ opened …)
