Entry Level 20”

Hi,

I want to purchase a new 20” Unicycle for my son (Birthday present, 11-years-old). Unicycle.com has five different models to choose from in the category of, Childrens Large (approx ages 8 –14).

So my question is, which one should I buy? The Jugglebug seems to be the only one that includes main-cap bearing housings, and the others have heavy-duty lollipop style bearing holders. Furthermore, the Jugglebug does not have the Schwinn style seat post with the four bolts. All of them have cotterless cranks.

The cost is not a factor to me because all five models are all less than $100.00.

Therefore, I would appreciate any suggestions to help me choose the best entry level Unicycle for an 11-year-old.

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

I suggest a 20" Torker with an upgraded saddle. Upgrade the saddle to a Viscount saddle, or a Semcycle XL saddle, or whatever unicycle.com recommends. That should still keep the cost under $100. The Torker is a great entry level unicycle. It just suffers from having a small saddle that was designed for very small kids.

John is right on the money. However, if you pay half again as much, you can get an exceptional unicycle (for the price) that you will not necessaraly want to replace. Check out the Sem XL. Much smoother, solid ride. I’d also recommend the Viscount seat option instead of the Sem XL seat. Here ya go:

Sem XL 20"

Hope to see him on it!

If you do buy a Torker, make absolute certain to upgrade the seat. (oooouuuccchhh!)
