ElliptiGO

My wife “the runner” hates everything about a bicycle saddle. She saw the ElliptiGO advertisement in Runners magazine. One short test ride at our LBS and she was hooked. It’s a runner’s stride with a strike that owners claim mimics running better than some of the more expensive stationary equipment. The important thing is she loves it.
I’m having trouble keeping up with her (coasting is cheating) on my geared 36er. Her hub (Shimano Alfine 8 speed) is also internal but she has finger lever shifter that you don’t even have to be peddling to use.

ElliptiGO review:
Pros:
It’s fast!
It coasts very easily so you are kind of just standing there.
Ergo Grips require no gloves.
Regular tennis shoes.
No bike shorts.
One size fits all. Hop on and ride without any adjustments.
High vantage point (like my 36er) to see over traffic.
More of a workout (33% per the website) than a bicycle which is important to her. 45 minutes of climbing the hills in our neighborhood or up to 2 hours on our rail trail, she is getting a pretty good workout.
Cons:
It’s heavy (43 lbs) which is probably why it coasts so well.
At 6’ long it is tough to transport. Luckily the 8C fits in our minivan without removing the telescoping handlebar (the handlebar folds on the 11R model) so she can load and unload herself. Or you can just throw it on the Jeep.
