East Midlands riders - New muni place but not for long?

Hey people, I heard about this place near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire (UK)
http://www.mountainbikerides.co.uk/photos_section/shore/shore1.htm

Looks like fun, and close to where I live. It’s supposed to be a secret location but it’s meant to be being knocked down soon for insurance reasons so people have been blabbing since it’s of no consequence now, hence me finding out. It might even have been done now, I have only just got back to the area so haven’t had a look. Apparently it’s quite good to ride there even if the structures are gone.

Seeing as the landowner has no insurance (although he doesn’t object in principle to people riding) it would be a very naughty to ride there. I’m going to say where it is just because I know none of you are naughty enough to actually ride, and will want to go there just to gaze in awe at the plankwork while it lasts.
It’s in a village called Asfordby Hill, about 1 mile from Melton, here:

I’m told if you go along to the end of St. John’s road and carry on straight into the woods for 100 paces and start digging under the third palm tree you’ll find the treasure. Arrrr.
Sorry for the randon pirate reference:o

Seriously, don’t be stupid and go and ride there, because not only is it naughty it’s very dangerous and no-one accepts any liability for your stupidity in going there so there will be no big cash settlement if you get yourself hurt.
I repeat. Just go to look, do not RIDE THERE WHILE IT LASTS!

Matthew Tolliday accepts no liability for any personal injury or death that may occur as a result of this post.

Hey, that does look like fun! But since it might be pulled down soon,
maybe I won’t pop down there next Saturday afternoon to see how good it
would have been.

If any of the other EMUs are around then, do you fancy not having a look
at the same time?

Ill not take a look with you

I’m busy Saturday (NOT that I would have loved to go had I been free) but I’ll hopefully make time to go and have a look (YES LOOK ONLY) before then and report back on this disgraceful and dangerous setup, so that others can be warned of the danger before they hurt themselves.

Ooops, I knew about that but never got round to organising a ride there.

I’m maybe maybe not as far as next saturday goes, might be a bit close to mountain mayhem to go injuring myself riding shore.

Incidentally there’s a few new (normal) trails at Bramcote, which I might have ridden last night. Oh and some new lines off hemlock stone on the suicidal side of it that are slightly less than suicidal now. The best trail on Bramcote has gained a 1.5 foot gap jump, which I gingerly stepped down twice yesterday, but which looks like it might be rideable if you don’t think so much…

I was riding around Bramcote Park last Sunday but didn’t see anything
that struck me as new. Although, to be fair, it’s been a while since
I’ve been to most of it. There was a very very long decent that was
quite steep which I was doing ok-ish with… until I spotted a family
had stopped by the path at the side of it to video me coming down. It
all went to pot after that! Was hoping to get back over there today to
try it again, but got carried away with gardening :frowning:
