Dyno Fireball vs Maxxis Hookworm - which is better

I have a Qu-Ax 24" Cross with a Duro Wildlife, which is a great tyre in my opinion and works really well off-road on the single tracks. My problem is that I take my Uni for rides on the road and as a result the Wildlife is wearing down very quickly. I would like to get a road tyre that I could swap to when wanting to ride on the road, that is going to be able to take the abuse of the tar and concrete and last a while as I can’t afford to keep replacing tyres, the Dollar/Rand exchange rate is just a killer.

Dyno Fireball vs Maxxis Hookworm, which of these 2 is the better choice ? or are their other better choices ?

the fireball is described as a cruiser tyre, the hookworm is meant for more serious work, used for skateparks and dirt jumps. For that reason i would go with the hookworm, it’s so smoothe on the road but made for abuse.

I’ve never used a fireball but I have the hookworm on one of my 24" unis and its an awesome tire. I used that uni for street/trials before I got my street uni. Its get plenty of air volume, its really light and handles amazingly. Its also the tire Justin Kohse used in defect if that tells you anything.

The Fireball tire is terrible.

Very flimsy sidewalls, and that lip on the edge of the tread…

I use the Hookworm on my 24"DX and like it a lot for general riding. Very rugged, works equally well with lots of air or very little and very smooth rolling. I have not used or seen the Fireball so can not comment on it.

Bump…

Anyone have any thoughts or has tried the Dyno Fireball ? The hookworm seems to be a great tyre, but would like a comparison with the Fireball ?

Borgschulze mentioned that it has a flimsy sidewall, anything else …
