This looks good. Now I just have to find one! I don’t know where to look
for one in Canada. The Toronto Unicyclist page mentions this too but
doesn’t say where they could be sourced from. Any suggestions out there in
usenet land?

I’m not sure whether my Miyata is “new” or “old”. I bought it in 1985 or
so. It has the old-style seat. The 1.95" sized tire I have on it - that
doesn’t really fit - is actually 54mm (2.13") inflated. A 1.85" size is
not much smaller than the 1.95" I’m trying to use. Can anyone advise me
what is the actual inflated width of a 20 x 1.85 Primo Wall?

I was looking at these airless tires from “Air Free”:
http://www.airfreetires.com/Bicycle_Tires/Catalina_Freestyle.html Anyone
tried airless tires on a Uni? They’re only black though - Bummer.

The Primo US web site really sucks. It’s been “coming soon” for quite a
couple of months. You’ll have to call around local BMX bike shops for this
tire. It’s a fairly well respected and famous tire, so you shouldn’t have
trouble getting it. I have seen them at bike shows, like the big one in
Toronto in March.

unicycle.com also carries them but you’ll have to pay shipping and duty as
well. It’s not worth it for a single tire, but if you were to get other
stuff then maybe.

You could try the Kenda Kontact. They have 20x1.95" tires in multiple
colours. http://www.kendausa.com/bmx_kontact.html

The Toronto Unicyclists tire page won’t recommend any stores. We’re here
to get your uni-specific tire product info and links in one spot. You can
get on google.com and search for this tire. Stores will come and get you!

By old style Miyata I was thinking about the old 20" Miyatas that used a
24" frame. Miyatas with a 20" frame will not be able to fit the 2.1" tire.
Sorry about the confusion. I should have been more clear.

The 1.85" Primo “The Wall” tire will fit in a standard 20" Miyata frame.
It’s a popular tire for the freestylers who ride Miyatas.

Find a local bike store that carries BMX stuff. If they don’t have the
Primo “The Wall” in stock they can order it. Dan’s Competition
(http://www.danscomp.com/) sells the Primo tire online. But I don’t know
how they would handle shipping to Canada.

Yes, yours is old. Your seat post/seat are not compatible with today’s
models, so when you replace it be sure to buy both (post size is the
same). Also your bearing holders are different, and yes if it was a 20" it
had a 24" frame.
