Hi, Iv’e been playing the drums for 3 years now. Does anyone else here play? If so, do u play set or snare. I play rock beats on my set but im also pretty good at snare also.

I play the drums! I’ve been playing for about 4-5 years now. I mainly play for my church and youth -and thats not like hymns and stuff, we play contemporary praise and worship - like Hillsong, Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns, Oxford Falls, etc. I love drums, ay, they’re a lot of fun. What do you mean excatly by set or snare, though? I’m self-taught, so im not really savvy with some terms
I don’t play, but my younger brother is in two bands. He is in an 80’s cover band, and an original band currently trying to land a contract on a major label. It will be interesting to see how everything works out.

On the second link, there is a short clip of them on CNN International. If you watch closely you can see my brother palying the drums in the back. He came on board after the band formed replacing there original drummer who was mediocre.
He played in the Drumline in HS and College. I am not the best judge of musical tallent, but others who are tell me he is amazing.
A set would be a full set of drums. Bass, Snare, Toms, Snares, High hat, Cow Bell etc… Snare would be like in a Drum line, just playing the snare drum.

Thanks. They have just completed a promotional DVD with live performances, original material and interviews. I hope to get my hands on one soon. It should really show him playing. I was there for the recording and they took a lot of film of him playing up close. I look forward to seeing how it turned out.

in this video (right click, save as) they show the 2005 finals. The “hands” winner got like 1250 drum beats in a minute! The “foot” winner got like 800!

i play in a brass ochestra thing, my rockband and sometimes in a jazzband. i love playing drumset more than anything else (exept from unicycling)

Everyone here should look up and learn some stuff from Mike pottney. I doubt I spelled his last name right, but he is the durmmer for Dream theater, and is crazy good.
Almost all he plays in are polyrthmics, which are awesome.
also have you heard Virgil Donati, he is bloddy good aswell…he plays with Steve Vai aswell by the way

Does anyone that plays set know how to play the beggining of “Boulevard of broken dreams” by Green Day? Its where the toms go: DUM, DUM ,DUM-DUM, DUM, DUM-DUM, DUM, DUM, DUM… The “DUM’s” are quarter notes and the “DUM-DUM’s” are eight notes. lol, hope that helps.
