Drummers

For now  could you do ā€œYou’re my temptation.ā€ By Alice Coper :sunglasses:

Not a career as in a living, though I“ve done pretty well with the various climbing texts I“ve written. My actual job is a writer, usually TV, but also books. But climbing was my real love. Now I just muni and hardly climb at all.
But I still bang on my hand drums all the time. Was thinking about getting a snare and working up the chops to do some rudimentary comps, but that“s a lot of time getting my sight reading back to speed.

JL

Remind me next month when our internet isn’t capped and I can download the song.

Andrew

ok

Care to mention any titles?
I’m curious to know if I’ve read any of your stuff.

How to Rock Climb
Climbing Anchors
More Climbing Anchors
Clip and Go
Sport Climbing
Big Walls
Advanced Rock Climbing
Gym Climbing

Those are all How-To texts. I“ve done others that are short story books and so forth. I can“t remember all the titles.

You have a nice set redhead, I saw it on drummerworld. I might join that forum.

=) =) =) =) =) =) =)
Thake you very much! I got it for christmass,I have the same picks on here thow? Join that forum Its good, not as good as Us here at unicyclist thow> Nope this is the best forum ever. I like you set two.

is drummerworld the best drum fora? i’ve only come across the drummers’ forum on taborama, and on mxtabs. neither of them much good really . . .

I just joined the drummerworld forums. It’s a fantastic site and it doesn’t sound like there are too many idiots there just out to compare their skills with others and boost their confidence. Also, there’s a whole bunch of great videos on the site…check out the Stanton Moore video - he’s one of my favourite drummers.

Andrew

I like him too, ive heard him before on Vicfirth.com( another great web site) but his style if allmost to slopy for me.

Here it is. In case you’re not familiar with the notation, the crosses with a circle aroudn them are crash cymbal hits, the circles above the hats are for hat openings (followed by a plus sign for closing them), and the wierd symbol that takes up a whole bar is an abbreviation meaning repeat the last bar. Oh, and the long one of these ā€œ<ā€ means crescendo.

I’ve transcribed all the important parts.

Good luck!
Andrew

Thanks you so have i picked a good first song or what? Its uber eazy from the looks of it, or did you turn the difictuly down a few notches? any way thank you Ill try and learn it tomarow. thanks

Looks like a good first song to me. The bit after the guitar solo is probably a bit tricky to play and make it sound good because you have to be kind of fast with your right hand on the hats. While you’re learning it, just get rid of the floor tom in that section and use two hands on the hats.

Once you think you can play it all properly, then you have to sit back and really think of how you can play it well and make it sound good. My teacher often tells me to go back to the basic rock beat with snare on 2 and 4 and bass on 1 and 3 and quavers (8th notes) on the hats and play that, just that, properly with a good groove to it.

thats kool i am looking for a new snare some day down the line.but im not totally sure yet

I joined drummerworld. I’m liking it a lot. The people on there seem really nice.

I bought a Sabian AAX 15" Studio Crash today. It’s absolutely beautiful. I have to try to limit how much I spend on drum stuff though…every time I go to this shop I seem to buy something. This afternoon I’m going to get a cymbal case, hardware case, crash stand (had mine stolen at a gig :(), and Stanton Moore DVD. That was limiting myself too…I was going to get a cowbell and attachment for it.

They know me there though so they’re always giving me great prices. Crash was $295 instead of the retail of $345.
