Now that my ipod mini is almost permanently in use as home stereo in the living room I have discovered the versatility of the first generation shuffle. I bought it some time ago for my partner to use but it was not the popular item for the walk home from work that I expected it would be and thus the wee mp3 player was abandoned and sat neglected, silent, on the den bookshelf.
As I headed for a uni ride a few days ago, on a whim, I grabbed the gum package shaped player, mixed up a new combo of tunes and slapped on my headphones for the ride. Nice. I started to like this simple, lightweight pod.
I liked it so much that I even decided to snap up another one. This time a refurbished first gen player that apple advertised on their web site. This shuffle is destined to provide some quiet weekend music while hooked up to a portable speaker system in the bedroom. The Logitech 3 shuffle speakers were a sweet deal too as they are now out of production what with the second generation shuffles hitting the shops all over town.
And finally, I added to my double shuffle acessory collection a dock/charging/syn station, also a sweet price and from ebay this time. I figure I’ve got it covered. One shuffle is loaded with rocking uni riding, gym work out music, the other offers blues and jazz for Sunday mornings in bed with a cup of tea and a good book.
