Do's and Don'ts on a (non-delux) Coker?

This is understandably not an ‘extreme’ unicycle. But every ride has things thrown in it like curbs, ruts, ect…

What’s the furthest you want to push a Coker in regards to obstacles? Can you ride down stairs? Bunnyhop?

I ride mine off standard curbs of about 8" height regularly. I do not hop or ride down stairs. I may have done a “high” curb drop of 12" at the VERY most once. I am 180 pounds of supercharged muscle so maybe average weight for Coker riders. I don’t want to take my big commuting wheel to taco land and I have other unis I can abuse and remain guilt-free.

I’m surprised I haven’t tacoed a coker wheel yet. I’ve taken 2 foot drops, done hopping on wheel, do regular hopping, ride up curbs, and other stuff.

I never taco Coker wheels.

This is true. After a recent ride, Greg was kind enough to jump start my truck. We put the positive lead on his toung…

When the hell did you do a 2 foot drop?

Where did you put the negative lead? Uh… Maybe I don’t want to know.

Call me a B.O.F. by all means, but I treat my Coker just like it cost me the best part of a week’s wages, more than a month’s mortgage payment or the cost of a major service on the car. I also treat it like one of the attractive design features of a wheel is that it rolls along the ground, as opposed to, say, a pogo stick, which bounces, or a parachute, which is useful for descending large distances safely.

That said, it will cope with rough ground and occasional down kerbs if treated with respect.

(What is a Bof? Why, Mike is, silly!)

BTW: Parachutes are usefull for descending short differences safely- the last few feet. You might as well enjoy the fall on the long part (I’ll try to remeber that the next time I take the Coker out).

Speaking of high-spead Coker dismounts, do you think a drogue chute would be usefull, attached to the rider?

A few years ago at the U in front of Williamson Hall. There is a huge “curb” between the grass and the sidewalk, but now that I think about it, it’s probably just 2 gilby feet tall.

Coker trials, that would be crazy. Of course with at stonger wheel and stuff…

B.O.F. UK (Motor) Biker terminology for someone who is boring, old and flatulent.

cubrs, up and down, some hopping, bad mounts that end in hopping. stuff like that. I worry more about my seat base cracking when i use tha handle than i do about tacoing the wheel. Then again i only weigh a slim 135 lbs.

I tried a kickup mount. Jeff lutkus was there. I dont think this is a good thing to try with your coker.
