DOOD! i am so proud of myself!

today, i went out (instead of doing my homework like i should…) and learned, all within two hours:

#1) to ride on my stomach
#2) the jump mount
#3) THE most scary thing for me yet; a da SUICIDE MOUNT!!!

seriously. i never thought i would get that many new things in a day!
wow.

for one thing imnot sure what a suicide nount is… can you clarify?

Stand the unicycle up, let go, jump on before it falls over.

That’s pretty cool that you learned that all at once. The jump mount and suicide mount was about a week diference for me. I don’t do the suicide mount that often though, due to some accidents that occured while trying it…

I don’t know about riding on your stomach though, I find it to be a useless trick.

Awesome… tonight I got the jump-up-into-standup-ww thing, and decided to try some grinds… with mild success…

Dave

i’m even surprised that i still have both my nuts… (sorry for that… but its true. i’d be lying through my teeth if i said otherwise)

i first tryed both of them on my lawn. i didn’t think, i just went for it, and 10 or so trys later, i got it down. went to pavement, and NAILED it. The suicide and jump mounts are mind over matter. or more like, forget that you can lose your nuts and just do it. i don’t wanna preach about how good i am, but i just feel that it shoulda felt a little harder than that…

heh… lets see how much of my shins i have left after i finally get the guts up to try crankflips and grinding… i already snapped my tailbone in karate Demo team practice when i did a roll wrong…

It is a useful skill because it’s a prelude to learning to ride seat out front. On its own it’s a bit silly. As preparation for riding seat out front it’s a good step.

soif are easyer than stomach on seat.
At least it was for me.

Stomach on seat is also useful for learning the transitions for hand wheel walk, stomach on seat, a cool, though somewhat silly trick.

Seat in front means holding the seat away from your body, not snugged right against your body. Holding it against your body is easier and pretty close to riding stomach on seat.

I learned stomach on seat first then worked on seat out front. First holding the seat snuggly against my body then holding it away from my body. But you can certainly learn seat out front without ever learning stomach on seat. Whatever suits you.

I just tried the jump mount a few days ago and got it on the first try. No offence to you, I just think it’s probably because I have a little bit more experience. Good job!

I jump mounted my unicycle within a week of receiving it after I saw someone do it on a video and I figured “Hey, I could probably do that.” And I could :p.

I don’t find jump/suicide mounts very difficult to do at all; you simply focus on putting each foot on the appropriate pedal, and then either pull the seat underneath you, ride seat-in-front, or… whatever else you might do…

I cannot, however, seem to pull up my right foot while 1ft riding, and start 1ft ww. What is the best way to learn wheelwalking. Is 1ft harder than 2ft?

Learn two foot wheel walking first.

Two sites with good tips for wheel walking:
The Marsh Sisters page of unicycling
Unicycling.org wheel walking tips
The big tip is to go toe heel toe heel toe heel. Start with your toe on the tire just in front of the crown. Roll the foot forward till it’s flat on the tire and then keep rolling forward till the back of the heel is on the tire. Then the other foot goes on the tire with the toe just in front of the crown. etc…

The easiest way to transition to one foot wheel walking is to start from two foot wheel walking. You’ll already be in the wheel walking position balance-wise and going at the right speed (slow). Just move one foot to the crown and continue wheel walking one footed. Easier said than done.

You can also transition to one foot wheel walking from one foot riding but that’s more tricky because one foot riding is a medium speed kind of skill while wheel walking is a slow speed kind of skill. You need to adjust your speed to slow down during the transition and one foot riding that slowly is more difficult.

The easiest transition to one foot wheel walk is to start holding on to a wall.

Suicide mount looks cool, i remember when that was my like big trick everyone liked…try and do a rolling suicide mount… ghost ride it a lil bit and jump on…fun stuff

NOOO thats soooo my trick… ok not really but i thought i made it up haha
