Dogs... is it just me?

If you are still learning to ride, it’s a bad, bad idea. Not fair to the
dogs. Wait until you’re solid enough to know you won’t fall on them or, more
likely, hit them with your unicycle. When you feel confident, riding with
them will be good practice.

I’m an expert rider, but it’s still a challenge to take one of my dogs for
a walk. Of course my dogs are bulldogs and don’t necessarily work like
“normal” dogs.

A bulldog on the leash is part truck and part wall. It takes a lot of force
to resist him when he wants to go, but it also takes a lot of force to
motivate him when he doesn’t. If I could just get him to walk consistently,
I know he could pull-glide me up any hill. The problem is, he likes to stop
and snif every bush, mailbox, post, etc.

Well, someone else’s private property, maybe. Don’t tell Christa that
running over our flowerbed was criminal, or she’ll have me up on charges in
a blink.

i find that if you stop when a dogs by, stand still, hold your hand out, and dont do anything, just let them come to you, smell you, look at you, and know what you are, that works very well, i do that to most dogs, big and small. And it works pretty well, all but 1 dog called Skippy my friends dog, its a little weiner dog thingy, i hate it!, it bites my shoes, and when i have my Big baggy pants on it bites that. So me and my dad, just end up running at it, and yelling, looks kinda funny, but it scares it away. As for horses, ive always been afraid of there hind legs, kicking me. Ive been told that sudden movements scare/startel them, we have horses living across from our house, and when there in the front part of the yard, and they see me even though there across teh road, and 50’ off the road, behind a fence, they still run away.

poor Bob, i fell a fairly large tree on him once, when making a log cabin up back of my house, it was probably had a diameter of about 6 inches, the tree started to fall, and i yelled for him to get out of the way, but he never has moved to fast cept when we play ball, and teh tree fell on him. i felt bad, and scared, so i ran over to him, and he was traped, and i moved the log. he was lucky that the branches broke most of the fall, and that he was only pinned under it, and not crushed, cuz even though it was a smll tree and hes a fairly big dog, it still could of broken somthing. :frowning: thats my storie of somthing fallling on my dog.

Re: Dogs… is it just me?

When we have canine guests for the weekend, we walk them while riding our
24s. No problem on short trips.

However, I imagine that the best kind of dog to take on a long-distance
unicycle ride would probably be a Coker Spaniel.

lol, love it

Wierdest thing, ain’t it?
There’s a dog around the corner from me and I can ride a bike past it with no problems. But If I’m on the uni, it goes nuts.
Thank God that it’s just a drop-kick-ankle-biter and I can easily out run it.
