dogs and cows

>Maybe unicycles are so strange to them that they don’t know what to make of

that could be it - the same thing seems to happen with cows. when my sister and
I do rides in our wonderful South Dakota landscapes, we ride by many cow fields.
it’s the funniest thing when all of the sudden the cows freak out and start
running really fast across the field to the other end of their fence!

>I don’t ride fast enough to outrun a dog.

me neither, but i feel like if i get off, it will be hard to get back on with a
dog jumping around. i wouldn’t want to run it over! (my sister has a story about
running over a dog…)

Speaking of dogs …

Since Tammy so kindly got the topic going, I’ll finish it off. One day she and I
were unicycling to a bike path in town to do a ride, and on the way we met up
with this little chihuahua-like dog sitting in the middle of the sidewalk. Upon
seeing us, it became very nervous, darting back and forth on the sidewalk.
Tammy, ahead of me, managed to miss the dog, but I hit it right on. The poor dog
whined and limped off into its backyard. I followed it to make sure it was
alright. I think it was, but I felt really bad about hitting it!
