Does this website look like a scam site? (I'm ordereing pedals from here)

Well I’m ordering some Wellgo MG-1 Pedals for a rather cheap price, at 30$ instead of $90-$100 from www.cyclingdeal.com

The reason I am posting this is because I am just a little suspicious about the sit and if I should trust it so I’m wondering if you could take a look at the site and just tell me what you think.

2 reasons why I am suspicious:

 1. MG-1 Pedals are extremely cheap
 2. I got an email from them because I asked for there bank account number so I could pay for the pedals. The email was set out unformally like this

my bank detail is:

Bank: ANZ
BSB: 013437
Acct: 519284847
Acct name: Haidong GU

I am more on the positive side but I want to be sure.
www.cyclingdeal.com is where I am buying from.

No such website. I guess you mean this? http://www.cyclingdeal.com.au/shop/

Yup.

What do you think?

And anyway I’m still not sure if I should get the pedals or not because the pedals are pretty muched jammed in the moment and I can’t loosen them at all :frowning:

Its not the Ti-spindle. Its cromo.

Ahhhh… don’t know what cromo or Ti means but it sais there alloy pedals and there light so…whats wrong with them?

Titanium will usually be lighter, with the same or a marginal difference of strength of steel. Which of course comes with a higher price.

Chromoly is a steel with a mix of chromium and molybdenum. Heavier, good strength to it, and very common.

Because its the cromo spindle in those pedals, that makes the price cheap.

happebed to me the insert is loose i was lazy and just went to the bike shop and they fixed it for 15 dollars, better than buying new pedals and cranks.

wont let me edit but that website looks legit its been around since 2006 it says at the bottom and if im correct all the stuff listed there is sold on ebay,so i guess there selling through ebay.so they sound good i would go it.

and with the ti cromo thing
ti is like and extra 50 dollars for a little weight saving.
but personaly i think i would cry if i striped a ti spindle.

uhm!!!
look!!!

trials much? 36 holes!

Be prepared to get phished. In fact, you have just phished yourself (or your parents)! Look it up if you don’t know what it means. Right now you should tell your parents you have posted your bank account information to a web site and that anyone in the world can see it.

Seriously consider closing the account and opening a new one immediately. Or is that information too little to be dangerous? I’m not familiar with how banks work in NZ…

???/

This is not my bank details…it’s the website owners bank details :S

phone them and chat, you’ll pretty quickly know if they’re real or not

They look ok to me, but still… phone them.

That, A tryall and bc plates! WOW I wish I had one of those! :astonished:

Oh! Good. Well, if they’re willing to put bank info on the site it’s a good sign, but usually the best thing to do is research the seller. Look for feedback or complaints. If you can’t find any, or past customers, shop elsewhere.

When buying cameras, for instance, there are always a few online vendors who offer stuff for prices much lower than all the “legit” companies. When reading their reviews a pattern emerges. In most cases they sell the item cheap, but then offer you a hard sell on overpriced accessories to go with it. The accessories are almost all profit so they don’t lose money. But they really, really don’t want to sell just the main item so they don’t do business in what I would call an honest way.

Not suggesting your seller is doing anything like this, that’s just an example of what goes on out there.

I’ve done a bit of digging and the site looks fine. The who.is details are fine and it’s been registered since 1994 (most scam sites are only registered for one year).

The bank details are a plus too, if they were asking for a western union money transfer is the usual way.

It’s been said before, but these are cheap because they have the chrome spindal. I would be happy to use that site.
