Does Love Exist?

This seems like the more shallow form of love.

Well, I didn’t want to risk any further pontification, so I got right to the point.

Love = Dependency

(according to my old GF’s psychiatrist)

lol

IMHO Love is a warm feeling somewhere above my right breast, which kind of radiates out a bit at different intensities. It makes me stop and think about other people instead of myself for a change.

Cathy

Yes it is, except for the rare and elusive “unconditional love”, where you don’t want or need anything from the other person. And no matter what they did (or did to you), it wouldn’t change your feelings one bit.

That doesn’t sound healthy. Or maybe I just can’t get my head around the concept.

That’s funny- when you put it that way, all I can think of is you.

Back to the original question, love does exist, I’ve seen it with my own eyes. Matter of fact, I just happen to have a picture of it.

Love in the real…

…and of course love in the second tense:

Ahhhh…the irony.

no reason to believe the theory of Love

Dave,

Thanks for being such a good sport. You wrote so eloquently, I had so little to change.

Funny, though, that no one on this thread is saying, as you have:

Dear Billy T. Mountain,

Ha. Ha. Please stop. Not everybody is reading the God thread (and “God” knows, I don’t blame them). They won’t know that I never said those things about love. It’s bad enough that Rhysling is on my case. And now maestro8 is back (although he has left me alone so far thank you). Now I have you to deal with? Jeeeezus! I can be misunderstood enough all by myself. I don’t need your “help”.

Good sport? Don’t get me started pontificating.

See…? Love exists. Love conquers all!

Love can also to irrational behavior :stuck_out_tongue:

Common’ 'mo possy -he’s theroughly demoralized- our work here is done- LET’S RIDE!

I believe in Love. Let the storm fall on me

Dear Dave,

You are magnificent!

No one is interested in debating the question THIS thread addresses. There are no cynics/atheists here. I find that strange. Does anyone care to postulate as to why this might be? Perhaps one must know love in order to unicycle!!!

And yes, you are correct. Belief in Love or God follows the same principle.

So, let me say it: I believe in Love. Let the storm of accusations fall on me (like on the God thread).

Billy

yes
i’m a unicyclist and i’m proud to say i love

i’m also an evangelical atheist, but that’s a different discussion

Spoken like a TRUE BELIEVER!! I love you!!

oh billy, i think this is it
this is proof that love does exist
because I LOVE ME TOO!
surely this can’t be a coincidence?
this can’t be a biological accident?
this can’t be intelligent egotistry?
this is proof billy, PROOF! i tell you

I love donuts!

there!
now we know that donuts exist
despite that tricky lil’ ‘black hole’ thing it’s got going in the middle there
the Heisugarman’s Uncertainty Principle
(with the colour back in your dreams and everything)
if u’re watching a cat while sticking your finger into the middle of a donut, what are u going to get?
jam?
fresh air?
ha, the confusion
but love will prove to us that the hole is not there to confuse but rather to define
that without the (w)hole (see the linguistic link?) (or the jam - stop being so specific), we wouldn’t be able to have anything around it, hence no donut, hence nothing to love
so it is only thru love that we can fully understand the reality of the donut
and only because it is defined by the uncertainty caused by the (w)hole (that linguistic thing again)
the same uncertainty that caused the suspicions in the first place have now come back to prove the existence of donuts
it’s like Sir Arthur Eddington said “not only is
the donut stranger than we imagine , it is stranger than we can imagine”

i love this thread
