do you know your IQ?

just out of curiousity, does anyone here know what their iq is? perhaps there is a correlation between unicycling and intelligence.

i took an innacurate online test and scored 138 or 140, thereabouts. I dont believe it tho. i reckon im quite a bit lower.

When I was in New Zealand a year ago, a local TV station administered a national IQ test. The questions were shown on tv, you write down the answers, at the end of the show they give you the answers and you calculate your IQ. I think I some where around a 109. I think this test was fairly accurate. The questions seemed reasonable enough, but the inconstant testing conditions are subject. What was interesting was that I got one more question correct then my friend’s uncle who was also taking the test, but because he is a few years older then I, his IQ was calculated to be higher.

All in all, it was a fun experience. The show turned out to be 3 hours long and the had several groups in the studio taking the test. If I remember correctly, blonds scored the lowest, and students and teachers scored the best.

I don’t know my IQ. I usually get a decent score on the online tests, puzzles etc. which I do for fun. I’m not sure that proves I’m intelligent. I’ve just gotten good at the kind of thinking that’s required for the tests. It doesn’t stop me from feeling stupid sometimes ;).

I don’t think there’s a correlation between inteligence and unicycling. Perhaps between unicycling and other skills that require determination and attensionspan to get started.

I took an online IQ test, and got a 177. That’s insanely high, and I think it was an inaccurate test.
But I took the SAT’s, and I’m a ninth grader, and I scored in the 75th percentile of people who are going into college. So I think my intelligence is a bit above average.

137, took IQ test in 7th grade.

james: unfortunately, the average person heading to college isn’t very smart :frowning:

i did an IQ test on the bbc site and i got…88 :frowning:

its because my brain is only trained in unicycle thinking not stupid ‘clever stuff’ :stuck_out_tongue:

By the way, some of these online tests are just scam. The only thing they’re good for is tricking people into submitting their email adresses.

I scored low on the latest BBC test. I didn’t like it because I’m in my teens and some of the questions were more easy for adults. Don’t worry about your IQ, it’s just a number.

I have about 10 different IQs, depending on the standardized test I took. There are many “approved” standardized IQ tests, with some variations in score.

What is more relevant than the actual number is the percentile score, which ranks you against all others that have taken the given test. Example: you could score a 140 on one test and be in the 98th percentile, and 150 on another and be in the 97th percentile.

This is one of the reasons that IQ orgs like Mensa don’t base membership on your IQ number, but on your ability to show 98th percentile scoring on approved standardized tests.

Well, in studies i’ve been arround the 90th percentile for logic/memory/coordination tests. And i’ve taken a few online IQ tests and received results of about 135. 135? I think that’s a little high for me, but oh well… i accept it.

I took one test years ago that claimed I was a genius. Took another stating I was a fool, no question. I’m not bright enough to know which test was right. I reckon neither.

I think it’s about time to mention there must be different scales.
In Holland IQ test only goes till 146.

On the one of Tickle.com I scored 131.
But keep in mind that that would have been higher if this test was in my native language.

First, treepotato, don’t let that score throw you. Many online tests are flawed, and many also are highly weighted to adults or those with more life experience.

Second, know this: Mensa calls itself the “High IQ Society”, but it is more accurately the “Society of People Who Do Well on Standardized Tests, and Also Like to join Exclusive Societies”. Its ranks are filled with people that have tested well but failed in other key areas of life, such as finding and holding decent-paying jobs. I can tell you from sad experience that developing good study habits is a lot more important than doing well on standardized tests. The latter will get you into college, but lack of the former will flunk you out.

i can say with 100% conviction that this statement is true. good lord was i disappointed… ho ho.

treepotato- check out iqtest.com, itll certainly boost your iq a few hundred.

perhaps that is where you took yours james p because i got about the same score.

but its strange because i am terrible at standardized tests. i remember taking the sats and feeling sure i got a 1600, but the results were a bit lower. i have a habit of marking the wrong bubble…

Yeah, iqtestdotcom is where I took mine. But the funny thing(s) is(are):
Everyone I know scored high above the Genius rating
They say you need to pay to get the full IQ Analyzation

Soo, I’m thinkin they purposely add like 40 on to your IQ to make you want to buy it and find out exactly how smart you are.
However, even if they do add 40, that means I scored 137 which is still a Genius rating.

Doing physical coordination exercises like unicycling and juggling where you use both sides of the brain at the same time improves your mental ability. In effect you are exercising the brain. Most recently I read of a test done with a group of dyslexic children and there was a distinct improvement in the children who did the coordination exercises.

As for myself I’ve always done well at university course work yet I hate exams and always let myself down in them yet I always do well in IQ tests. I did think about trying to join Mensa (not sure if I’d get in) but after reading what they do I don’t want to.

Cheers, Gary

I’ve done two iq tests that give somewhat real results. I got 136 from one and 138 from the other. That is over average. I got 169 from iqtest.com. And that test is total crap. There were some strange questions including quarters, dimes, nickels, pounds and other stuff I dont have a slightest clue about.

The guy that topped the show went to my School. (well after my time though). I thought the celebrities and teachers were the highest scoring? My flatmate who is a Doctor scored somewhere around 125-130 if I remember rightly. I didn’t have the attention span to sit through three hours of IQ testing.

I got about 139 on that test from tickle.com- don’t know how accurate it is, especially since what I scored and the score they emailed me was different.
