Do you hate the cops?

I don’t.

I feel that the police are charged with enforcing the laws. They do not make them. Except for cases of police abuse/brutality, I can’t understand why people hate cops so much. If you don’t wanna get busted, don’t do anything against the law. If you wanna do something against the law, accept the risk.

If you don’t like the laws, vote, petition, or protest.

The only time I’ve been “busted” was when I was ticketed $75 for sitting in a park after hours with some friends. No drugs, no alcohol, just sitting and talking, overlooking Harrisburg all lit up at night. I’ve never gotten a speeding ticket because I don’t speed (except occasionally by accident).

The laws I do break I think are silly, and I will continue to break them. If I am “busted,” I am most definitely willing to accept the consequences. (I can assure you, the laws I’m breaking are non-violent and not felonies or anything bad like that :stuck_out_tongue: )

I’ve read news stories of people becoming enraged and beating up meter maids. WTF?! They’re just doing their job. If you don’t want a ticket, don’t park where you can get ticketed, and put quarters in the meter.

On a personal level, I’ve found some cops to be dim-witted and power hungry, but applying these things to all cops is completely unfair. There are stupid and power-hungry people in any profession.

Police are a necessary part of society, otherwise laws would be meaningless if not enforced.

Do you hate cops? Why?

That’s like asking if we hate taxi drivers. Which ones?

Cops are human, which means they can make mistakes, be tired, be irritable, etc. I will always respect the badge, and the people who put their lives on the line to protect the rest of us. But sometimes they do a less-than-perfect job.

But it sounds like you’re looking to hear from people who equate all cops with the ones that rousted them for unicycling, or otherwise ticketed them for something they were actually doing…

i dont “hate” the police, i may dissagree with what they enforce but it is not their job to decide the rules, they follow the ones layed down by government. i have on many occasions been quite annoyed by the ignorance of some police, who class a unicyclist, riding on an empty path, next to a closed off road, as a danger to pedestrians! but this ignorance is from the individual, not the proffesion as a whole. it is like hatred towards bus drivers as being grumpy and stubbon, but not all of them are, it is mearly steriotyping.

I dont hate cops. I like them actually. Try to be polite to them and start up conversations with them as much as I can. I dont beat around the bush with them either. They ask what I am doing, I tell them, and im good to go.

Sometimes I dont like what they enforce or when im told to leave a place, but its still fine, cause I respect what they do, specially when they are doing it right, and its just easier for me to go along with what they say so I dont make a mountain out of a mole hill.

Don’t try telling that to Gilby or Harper.

drugs?

F*ck the police

-Easy E

Well I’m not so sure about that… after having waited for two whole hours in the cold in a t shirt because they would not let me on the bus with my uni… but I spose the third driver who let me on was ok.

I would say that out side the realm of unicycling, 99% of my interaction with cops have been fine and necessary( tickets, accidents, protests). but when it comes down to unicycling it has been RIDICULOUS. but its the same problem we have with the rest of the world, never endingly being associated with the circus and such. I feel that because most cops aren’t totally sure when the unicycle stands in the bike and pedestrian rule book they end up making a judgment call. which i think isn’t really up for the cops to decide, until something wrong is actually done

Can I answer this question for Pele?

Cops in my city are fages. They took my dad to JAIL for our dogs barking ( in the afternoon). I could share some great stories with ya’ll but another time…

I understand what your saying but cops are in a much different position as they can abuse their power and actually hurt people. A power hungry sales man is just going to get a punch to the face.

i often work with the cops

and???

That’s pretty much absurd. The punishment doesn’t fit the crime. Should have been a fine or something.

America is so ready to just lock people up…

I doubt the justice system kept him in jail though. There is also probably more to the story, as there often is in cops are evil kind of discussions. Was his father hostile to the police when they came to ask about the dogs barking?

Hah!

Yeah, I can see it now.

Someone pulls a knife on you, you’re about to be mugged, you see a cop, and you yell “F*ck you pig!”

Yeah, great attitude there, guys. You keep it up.

Keep slinging sh*t at the cops. I promise you’ll be licking their boots when you really need them.

I’ve never had any bad experiences with the police. But I’ve also never been caught doing anything illegal.

I have nothing but respect for someone who’d take a job that can put them in danger at any second. A policeman is one of the few people I feel truly deserves a salute.
