do u know where i can get a full face helmet in Canada?

:astonished: you startled me. Sorry, just had to ust that smiley somehow.
I was wondering if anyone knows where on might find full face helmets. If u know of a Canadian supplier, that would be excellent.
P.S. Check out my site @ www.unisteve.unicyclist.com

Go to any bike shop that sells BMX stuff. Why would you need it for uni though? I didnt see any kris holm type stuff on your site. Anyhoo, you can also check out danscomp.com. Thats where I used to get all My BMX stuff.

P.S. I spent about $500 and 3 months building a custom BMX bike, and about a month later, I met up with Dave Stone, and have not used my bike since. Infact, the fromt tire of it is on my uni, and so are the S&M pedals (they are GREAT)

B.C. bike stores like Cove Bike shop or Steed Cycles have them. A good cycle shop should carry them. Full face helmets are something you want to try on first.

I’v realy liked the SOL Kevlar Magic hang gliding helmet. Great protection, visiblity, comfort. Those downhill speed runs on the Coker feel much safer.

You can find it here:

And here is a pic:

Let us know what you get, and how you like it.

…and nice site, UniSteve. I plan on watching your flicks once I get back to work, and on the clock.

I’m also using the S&M pedals off my MOSH.
Go out and buy a hockey helmet, should be easy to find one… eh?

For riding down stairs backward

Just as a helmet will never hurt you, neither will a full face. With more
and more unicyclists riding on rocks, doing Trials, etc., there are greater
chances of people falling on their face.

Here’s an article about full face helmets for Canadians:

Kris, Why don’t you use a full face helmet?

You can choose many kinds of helmets:
bike/bmx helmet: looks great but not as much protection in the back of the head. Not many full face. Available at bike stores

http://www.cambriabike.com/helmets/index.htm

hockey helmet: Can include a face mask. Good all round protection, including the back of the head. Try Wal*mart or Canadian Tire $35CAD

Snowboarder/Downhill Skiing: Some pretty cool colours

Interesting helmets:
Bass Fishing Full face Helmet: definately NOT to be used for skydiving, it says. Them bass must be pretty ornery.

Water skiing helmet:

Why do you want a full face helmet again? I’ve never hit my chin riding my uni. Maybe you do some funky balancing act with your uni on your chin? Heavy duty uni DH action?

P.S. If you’re near Toronto there’s the International Bike Show on March 1-3, 2002, and they’ll have lots of full face helmets.

I’ve tried a couple of them and have ridden with them for headcam filming (where the camera is
attached to the helmet), but I’ve never liked them. The main reason is that the jaw guard
interferes with your peripheral vision straight downwards. Losing this peripheral vision seems to
make my balance worse, so I’ve never liked them.

On a bike I think it’s way more common to fall face-first, especially if you go over the
handlebars, and hence arguably more important to wear a full-face helmet.

The Giro full-face setup, with a removable jaw guard, might be a good option for people who want
to ride with one for unicycling.
