The residents of Rochelle have been organizing a relief effort for the victims of Katrina. This morning, it all started to come together in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Residents from across the region began dropping off supplies at 6:00 a.m. to load onto three trucks on hand. Tomorrow they are supposed to make their way to the disaster area. Several city employees and firemen are already in the area to lend a hand with whatever needs to be done.
The local home for wayward kids is supplying the labor to prepare the goods and load the trucks. It’s a way for the kids to earn some of their community service points.
Every little bit counts.
