The phone rings at 3 am, it’s a robocall for a political candidate. You hang up, and it calls you back 15 more times. are you going to vote for that candidate? Probably not.
And that’s exactly the intention, becasue the call came from the OTHER candidate.
Robocalls have also been used to keep people away from the polls, with misinformation about poll location.
Clever marketing? Or is there something wrong with this?
They should be illegal.
Robocalls in general, that is.
If it’s not a reminder for an appointment you already set up, or similar, as soon as I hear a recorded voice on a phone call I hang up. I only listen enough to find out if it’s actually for us, or generic.
The last one I got was a warning that “One of your cars is going out of warranty and you need coverage!” Uh huh. If you talk to these people, they have no idea what car(s) you own, when you purchased them, how much you paid, what coverage you actually have, etc. The same goes for bank “offers” that start by thanking you for your great account history. When you talk to the live person, they have no access to your account whatsoever. Call my cynical.
Jacquie and I are permanent absentee voters. No need to hassle with the polls. No need to listen to annoying calls. Now if we could just figure out a way to filter the annoying political ads off the TV, life wouldn’t suffer in election years (as much)…
