I’m feeling rather lazy. SNL years ago did a spoof of a product that was two things in one. Their product was a dessert topping and a floor wax. What was the actual product they were spoofing?
Thanks.

National Public Radio.
You’re welcome.
I’d have to guess that the main ingredient was propylene glycol. It’s a surfactant, so you can degrease your shop floor with it. It’s an antifreeze, which can keep your ice cream from freezing like a rock. And it can act as an emulsifier in your muffins and pastries. This versatile and obviously “100% safe” product is made out of petroleum. It’s probably in your toothpaste, too.

Edit: damn, Greg beat me to it. Never mind.
Ajax? It’s both a programming framework and a dessert topping?

Here’s a
The fake product was Shimmer. What real product are they spoofing? Beats me. Could be spoofing the pitch more than any specific product.
Thanks Steve. It says something about the quality of SNL back then that I was stoned off my ass most of that first season, but still remember it like it was yesterday.
I haven’t found the actual product yet either, but here is a List of Saturday Night Live Commercials.
You’re welcome.
