Hi all,
Heard off of someone or another that there is a regular unicycle
hockey game in Derby? Is this open to anyone to have a go? I’ve always
wanted to give it a go. If anyone has any details I’d be very
grateful. I’d be coming down by train from Sheffield. (Despite the
fact I’ve lived in Nottingham for past four years, doh!)
There is indeed hockey in Derby every tuesday, 8-9 at Darley field, and everyone is welcome. The original thread is here which probably contains all the information you need.

See the following for some hockey this weekend in Denton near Stockport,
Manchester.
Saturday 11.00 Am start.
John’s - absolutely right the Derby /nottingham hockey is ever Tuesday evening 8.00 - 9.00 at Darley Fields five-a-side pitch in Chester Green - probably just under a mile from Derby Station. Its oputside but thats seems to work quite well and the pitch isis nice and big and quite gentle on the buttocks if/when you dismount.
We’ve been going now for 6 weeks or so and get around 10 people each week from beginners to fairly experienced people - so come along the more the merrier - After the session we retire to the Bridge Inn for a relaxing beverage. Email me if you need any further information - hope to see you there!
Yeah, sorry, I just posted that cryptic message about hockey existing and then disappeared off to do work without posting any details or anything.
By the way, to get there from the station, you go up station approach, get yourself over the big roundabout somehow. Go up Morledge road, keep going up to Derwent St on the right, then Stuart St or Phoenix St on the left then go under the big ring road, you’ll see the bridge pub in front of you, go past the pub, then up city road, which is the dark road on the left just after the pub. Ride up city road till the end and you’re there, there’s a car park, which quite likely will have unicyclists hanging around in it, or we’ll be at the 5 a side pitch which is the floodlit pitch behind the first set of tennis courts (you can see if from the car park).
If anyone lives in sheffield then you could join the Sheffield Unicycle Hockey Group. We meet on Tuesdays at 7.00pm at a pitch near the city centre. This is shown on the map. All you need to bring is a unicycle. The hockey sessions are free!
Just a quick heads up; Spamming the group with the same stuff time after time and digging up 4 and 5 year old threads won’t help you make many friends in this group.
