Deluxe Coker Rim?

Wayne,

Wayne,

Sounds a good move forwards, the only question I would ask is how wide is it?
remember it needs to fit a very wide tyre on it.

Cheers

Roger

I have found a company who is able to manufacture a strong yet lightweight rim
to suit the Coker tyre and tube.

The rims are a “deep V” shape (32mm deep). They are made from double wall
aluminium and will be either powder coated or anodised.

A problem that I face is that the company cannot drill the spoke holes as their
rig will not go that large. I will have to find someone to hand drill them or
supply them undrilled. The price per rim will be about $150- (Australian) if I
get 20 orders or more.

What is the general consensus? Powder coat or anodised?Colour? Drilled or
undrilled?

RE: Deluxe Coker Rim?

Wayne, Put me on the list of those in for a quality rim. I would prefer drilled.
36 holes. jd.

Re: Deluxe Coker Rim?

I hope the $130US price is for a new built wheel (hub, spokes and rim all laced
up and ready to go) and not just the rim. But $130 is still a lot given the
quality of the rim and considering that it is not built by Kovachi.

Re: Deluxe Coker Rim?

A few questions for the wheel builders out there… How much will the better rim
improve the strength of the Coker wheel?

The axle is too short to provide optimal strength. Is improving the rim without
addressing the axle length worthwhile?

The frame seems very minimal. Would a better wheel make the frame less
of an issue?

Thanks,

David Maxfield The first bike shop says that my Coker taco is beyond repair. I’m
shopping for a second opinion.

Is this company Velocity? Many here in the states are familiar with them, and
have respect for their quality and willingness to take on special projects.

I have also approached Hed Manufacturing. They make carbon fiber wheels–and
take on special projects like tiny wheels for Moultons. We’ll see what their
volume requirements and price points are.

I talked with Coker Tire about replacing the rim that I tacoed. They price their
rim at $130US!!!

That is a very pricey rim–given its low quality. Have others out there found a
way to replace their Coker rim?

The Aussie rim is sounding increasingly attractive–though I wonder what the
shipping charges to the US would be.
