Vegetarians understand perfectly well. While driving through Georgia once we saw a hawk swoop down and grab a bunny. We thought it was amazing too and a rare opportunity to see nature at work in that way without the benefit of National Geographic. And while it’s fun to poke fun at people who are critical of hunting the truth is only an idiot would believe that owls shouldn’t hunt squirrels, hawks bunnies, etc.
But if trimming deer population were all there were to hunting, the state would be expected to do it at tax payer expense. Hunters hunt for the fun of it and wouldn’t do it if they didn’t enjoy it. I think it is disingenuous to claim that the primary purpose is animal population control, for the meat, or whatever. And I, of course, except people who live in such remote areas that they need to hunt for food.
That said, I also believe that if hunting is done safely and in compliance with local regulations, it is the right of people to be hunt and experience the pleasure of stalking and killing animals.
Ok, so everyone who thinks that this deer thing is the best thing ever,
First of all Killing is ok if you’re starving and cold and are gunna die. The Native Americans are a perfect example. But they killed within reason, always thinking how everything they did would effect the next 7 generations. I don’t think you were cold or starving.
Wolves and Coyotes aren’t the reason that deer numbers are down. It’s hunting. Wolves and Coyotes just take enough to eat.
People are not more important then ants. Ants do absolutley no harm to the world while if you give people just a few years, they’ll totally f*ck it up.
Understand was the wrong word. I should have put a after that comment.
I meant in in the way that if you’re a non-vegetarian and are very bothered about killing a deer for meat then you need to realize where that hamburger came from.
I also meant it in the way that vegetarians don’t all understand responsible hunting and some don’t even understand livestock farming.
Many vegetarians and vegans have a much better understanding of how livestock is farmed and processed than do your garden (not-burger) variety meat eater who thinks nothing of how their hamburger gets on their plate. Many vegetarians and vegans make their choices because of their understanding in this area.
Dude, I would rather the whole human race just die allready.
Look at all some of the good stuff we’ve done for the world. Atom bombs, Clearcutting, Factory Farms, Wars, Hate. It goes on and on. Ants just eat bark and stuff.
And many vegetarians and vegans have never been outside of the city, much less to a farm. But they’ve seen it all on Peta videos. So yeah, they know what they’re talking about. They’re metro vegetarians and emo.
The people who hunt or farm know very well where the meat comes from. So dissing a hunter or a livestock farmer or butcher for eating meat is the wrong target. We need more people like that.
I’m a vegitarian. I live in the woods and I know all to well where meat comes from. One of my earliest memories was seeing a deer shot and killed less then
30 feet away from me.
Dude, it’s not even worth disscusing with you then.
And as for clear cutting, I worked as a logger for the past couple years, we did clearcuts and other forms of logging. FYI, logging is good for the enviroment, if at least to prevent wildfires and dead fall. You need to stop listening to the stupid “OMG the earth is going to explode!” enviormentalist wacko’s.
…and listen to Rush Limbaugh?? Y’know, my only real beef is with clear-cutting. There are a whole lot of ways of logging that are good for us and the environment but not many people use that method. But I mean, We are really screwing with the world.
