I have a KH double crown and it has served me well for the past few years, except for the fact that the second crown is completely useless to me and has kinda just been there.
I can’t do stand up tricks yet, but I feel as though the second crown defeats the essence of the unicycling by making it easier.
I’ve seen a few videos of other kids riding the KHDC, and there are a few new tricks that the KHDC allows for… but it is a very short list.
I have also been getting more into trials, and it is almost as though the second crown is just there mocking me.
So I am contemplating
dealing with it, so what, it’s only 60g heavier than the KH longneck.
cut off the second crown with a dremel and sand down the extra stub.
fork over ~$150 for a new frame and keep the DC as a relic.
my question is; has anyone cut off the second crown before? is there a solid wall under the second crown… or a hole into the frame? Do you think the KH DC frame would be worth anything in years to come (like an antique/collector type of deal). should i anticipate a new KH or equivalent frame soon that i should totes upgrade to soon?
If Kris stopped selling double-crown I am sure it was just a business decision because the low amount of sales was insufficient to keep the production viable.
That doesn’t mean these frame are not nice. And it would break my heart to see one mutilated.
If you don’t like the way it feels riding, post it in the trade section and I am sure there would be a couple of fellow riders interested
