Custom unicycle: Possible?

Well I finally am getting some money, . You guys have told me to buy a trials unicycle, yet I don’t have time to save up. So I’ve been searching www.unicycle.com and have found some nice parts. IS this possible to do…

Nimbus II Frame (it was under Trials frames)----- http://www.unicycle.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=851

Torker LX seat---- http://www.unicycle.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=851

And some new cranks.

I just got back from sending my uni into our local bike repair shop. I told them to get some cranks because mine stripped out. I will get it Wednesday. Anyways, I’m curious if it is possible to buy parts from different companies and easily assemble them on my own. I’ve been putting stuff together since I was born, and I buils scale roller coasters, so I’m good with fixing, connecting, gears and such.

Please tell me if this is a good idea. Oh, and by the way, i’m a skill level four, and I can 360 unispin constantly. So i’m not a beginner at this.

well your going to need more than a frame and a seat;) for a decent trials uni i would go
Qu-AX hub& cranks
Nimbus Trials Rim
Nimbus 2 frame
Jim C pedals
KH street seat
KH seat post
you’ll also have to pick out some spokes and a seat post clamp

the problem is that a trials uni requires a 19" mod tyre. I think thats the most basic requirement. That means 19" rim + 19" mod tyre.

Then you usually need a new frame cause the 19" tyres are pretty wide. A nimbus II would be good. And you’ve spend all that money on that wheelset so you might as well buy yourself a crankset that will last more than 5 seconds. so the qu-ax crankset or any other splined one would seem like a good choice.

And then you need a new 27mm seatpost (or 25.4mm) and then you probably want a low profile seat.

So in the end you’ve basically made yourself a trials uni. But there’s not much point in upgrading the frame and the seat…

if you have no money the only thing you can really do is buy a thick 20" tyre like the maxxis max daddy. I used the onza sticky fingers but they seem pretty rare.

That crank set is 120 dollars, :astonished: . That would take 10 weeks. Hopefully I will be able to use the cranks the bike place gives me. I want another seat. This seat for the CX is just plain annoying. Its thick and there’s no handle.

A video of me doing a 360 unispin in 30 minutes, it’s uploading, but very slowly. I used my brothers CX.

yeah have you ever laced a wheel? because you don’t just put it together. and you definately don’t just tighten the spokes and hope it is true and centered.

det-roit
out of the components you listed, only 2 are truly good. and i don’t think the post and frame would work together. the 2 good parts are the pedals and the seat. for 11 bucks more you can get a way better crank set than the qu-ax.

Shipping could cost 50$ +

If you buy a bit here and there at different times.
If I was you I’d take up freesyle and save up for one of A E Bikes 363 $ KH 20’s.
The parents will be amazed if you show the maturity to wait a few months and save a couple hundred bucks. Perhaps enough to help you out with the rest.

you’re going to need a new seatpost too. lx is weird.
