Custom UNi pricing - etiquette?

The Steve Howard MUni thread gave me this question:

What’s the etiquette for asking about pricing of custom Uni’s and frames on the newsgroup? Or is there one?

Are such questions better left for emails?

I am not sure what is more appropriate.

Thanks:)

I saw a hand-built frame for $640.

If that’s typical of what you’d pay for custom equipment, then etiquette
is whatever the guy spending the money wants it to be.

the etiquite should definatly be: make sure its worth their while, even if they do love doing it.

Make these inquiries by e-mail. It would be bad form to put a designer or builder on the spot by asking in a public forum what kind of financial arrangement was made for a certain product. Some of these things are done gratis as gifts or to be tested by agressive riders. This is kind of a preliminary review process which has been done for many items on this forum.

Greg,

Your points are well taken and they validated my concerns.

Email it is!

Thanks Gregory and Evilewan, also.
