Custom coker frame

I am investigating getting a coker, and need some advise.

I am going to have an Airfoil Rim with UDC wide coker hub.

What frame should I chose? I am thinking custom but need some prices, and pros and cons for the different frames.

I would love pictures of the different frames

The frames I have heard of are Hunter, Wyganowski, Max’s dad, George Barnes. Are there any others, what is the price for these?

You could always just build your own, like I did:

I think that is a bit out of my league. I don’t have any welding tools or any knowledge in how to weld.

I think I’ll buy, and let somebody that has the tools and knowledge take care of the welding.

I have a GB4 frame built by George Barnes. The quality is terrific. Can be seen in this thread. http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39213

It is custom made to your size and requirements.

i would second anything made by george. super nice work.

But do you remember about how much you payed for it.

How much does a Wyganowski frame cost, and do anyone have any pics?

I’d check out Tom Miller. Contact info at:

Tell him, Mike McDermott sent you.

Well I was thinking of having it built in the UK at unicycle.uk.com, and just have the frame from the USA. I hope this will save shipping.

David Stockton is building me one with a Hunter frame. I’m sure he’ll have some advice…

Rick does a nice job too. Some shorter people (me, for instance) have leg clearance issues with the GB4 configuration, but not the Hunter.

Well I am 1,90 meter high, so I hope leg clearance will not be a problem. I find the Hunter frames a bit to expensive for me (but it is really the nicest in my opinion). So I am mostly loooking at the other options.

Now that people are back from Moab, are there anybody with pictures and prices of their beautiful Cokers.

I didnt just come back from Moab, but I found this b-e-a-utiful coker that you might want to look at in Tom Blackwoods gallery.

Yeah, I can highly recommend the GB4 frame, as well as the combination GB4/U-Turn handle. It’s a great setup.

Like U-Turn, I’m on the shorter side, and while I’ve had a small issue with the “clearance problem” that he mentioned, I’ve been able to get past it via some saddle adjustment advice (thanks John_Childs) and pedaling adjustment advice (thanks Andy_Cotter).

I have a Hunter 24, so it was a tough choice to not go with the Hunter for my custom 36. At the end of the day, the GB4 was more affordable at a time when I was already investing a lot into the overall $etup.
