Criminal on the loose excitement

Not that criminal activity is exciting…

We were with our friends in Dixon, IL this past Sunday night when the word came out that a murder on the loose had just struck again in the next town over (killed five people) and was headed our way. http://www.thecity1.com/features/4582.html
We went out to Courtney’s softball game anyway but were warned not to wander off by ourselves. Later, when we were back at the house, word came out that police had just closed businesses along a certain road including the McDonalds just down the street from us and had blocked off the main intersection. The whole town was on alert.

Last I heard is that this guy has fled the area and was last seen in southern Illinois.

Interesting. Local news just said that the FBI is going to put this guy on their list of the top 10 fugitives along with Osama Bin Laden and others.

Now this is weird…

Got an email from my mother in Marion, IL (way south) tonight. She saw this guy get in an accident. Here’s her email:

Subject: Witnessed a major accident

We took David and Christine to the park today.

We witnessed a major accident at Giant City State Park.

We went to the castle and they played for awhile but there were no picnic tables, so we went down to Giant City park. We ate our lunch and then they climbed the water tower and then we went inside the visitor center to use the bathroom. When we came out, a black pick-up truck was flying around a curve and smashed through a large wooden guardrail. The whole front of the truck was smashed in, so I don’t know how he managed to get out alive. The guard rail flew 100 feet. But we saw him walk across the road, flag down another car and drive off.

We found out that this was the guy from the Rock Falls incident and there was a red pick-up truck chasing him (he was going about 100 mph). He had hit the red truck and talked with them. Said he was not going back to jail, so he got in his black truck and took off. They were chasing him. There were no plates on the black truck and we found out later that it was stolen. I’m thinking that the car he stopped gave him a ride involuntarily.

David kept saying, “Grandma, this is bad. This is real bad.” Both kids asked tons of questions and can’t seem to talk about anything else. Both of the kids watched it happen and heard the loud noise. I hope they don’t have nightmares tonight.

Christine says she will have to tell Mommy and Daddy all about it.

Wow that’s big time. Our school went on lockdown last year because an escaped inmates clothes were found nearby. The kids were freaking out.

Saw this on CNN earlier. Nasty stuff, Bruce.

Mr. Sheley is now in police custody. Captured in Granite City, IL

Oh my. You wouldn’t want a naked guy running around near a school.

They got the wrong man! That was just to create a false sense of security.

A couple of years ago a kid came to our school with guns and held up the front office. Didn’t kill anyone though, lockdowns SUCK.

Dang.

Ive had some drugbusts just two houses from my house. Our whole block was closed off. Police wernt letting us leave our houses. I snuck out the back, jumped my fence into my alley (our alley isnt paved or anything, its actually just a foot wide, then widens to about 7 feet, then narrows right by a garage that leads into the side street. Its all a big dirt mound, tree stumps, bushes, and weeds.)

But anyways, I did it cause at the time we were barbecuing and I needed to run to the store. A few mins after I get back, there was a crowd forming at both ends of the street, and I leave right on the intersection of one of our most busiest streets, so everyone was driving by. News crew came, and police were trying to get everyone to just head back home or go off somewhere else.

The coolest part was that the SWAT team came up. Full dressed and fully loaded. I was loving it. I watched them jump over our fence with their rifles, and they asked if they could use our van and trucks as a sniping/coverage.

The whole thing lasted 14 hours. During that time they pulled out the wired cameras and ran them through the house. Tried to talk to the guy but he wouldn’t comply. Finally the busted the windows down, threw some type of gas into the room the guy was holding up in, then they broke the door open, charged on in and busted the guy. It was almost kinda funny to hear him yelp out while the dog was attacking him.

Also during that day, the other people living at the house tried to go in, but they wernt allowed to, and then started to get an attitude with the SWAT team, so on of the guys fully choked slam one of the guys and they got hauled off.

multiply all the salaries x14 hours, plus another 6 hours for paper processing and after action reviews MINIMUM, plus the paperwork and feeding and processing of the guy with the attitude=$300,000.

your taxpayer $$ to serve and protect the pharmacutical industry from competitors.
