I took these pictures of my ipod ages ago, and meant to post them here then, but forgot. Now my iPod is completely dead so it doesn’t matter, but I still want to share. Has anyone seen anything like this before, ever?
It’s really really weird. I just turned it on and these things appeared there.
first one says ADD - DROP
second one says DROPTEST
third one says DISKMODE, WHEEL, CONTRAST, AUDIO, STATUS, DRV TEMP, and something else I can’t make out.

The battery died, so I replaced it, then it died again, so I replaced it again, and it still didn’t work, so as far as I’m concerned, it is dead.
But still…those funny screen things creeped me out when I saw them.
I do not have a iPod.
iPod exorcism?
The ipods have a bunch of random crap in the software. I was reading something about ipod nano software having all this stuff like it was a cellphone, if you read the code. Looks like you managed to bring that up somehow, but I have no idea why.

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. Maybe he got it on ebay and didn’t realize it was installed?

Try using the most recent iPod update to do a complete system restore (if you have any music on it you will have to put it back on it again). If it’s iPod linux on it, that’ll put it back to how it’s supposed to be.
Yeah I installed iPod linux on mine ages ago, haven’t checked the development in a while though… I wonder if they’ve had any big breakthroughs.

Yep I’ve had the same problem with my iPod video.
It went into diskmode and now I can’t turn it on. I"m probably just taking it to the apple store to get fixed because its still in warranty
If it still has battery power you could try forcing a reset; hold down menu and the selection button and after awhile it will reset, as if waking from power save sleep.
I wish I had a video; iPod linux isn’t much fun with a 4G. At least I got it free from a pyramid scheme site.

It’s still quite good, even with a 4G or mini.
People who complain that their mp3 player’s storage capacity is only __ GIGABYTES bother me.
