Cow Hide Seat

I was wondering where I could get imitation-cowskin fabric to make a more
interesting seat cover for my unicycle. I could always get a car seat
cover then cut it down but that seems quite wasteful.

In case you’re not sure what I mean see :-

For the idea of the pattern…

… of course I’d then have to add front and rear bumpers (currently
they’re part of the existing seat)… but the effect would be unique.

Posts featuring seat-cover stories, fabric manufacturers, ideas, why this
isn’t going to work, etc. are welcome.

I have what is quite possibly the only unicycle seatcover made entirly out
of duct tape (let alone red duct tape), in existance. It looks great, but
I havnt ridden on it yet, because I still dont have ridable cranks.

I have pictures of it (still in the process of being made) on my site:

To go right to the pics goto:

and its like 3/4 of the way down.

Its done, and fits on the yike great. I urge you to try to make one, or if
you want I could make one for anyone that wants one.

A leather uni seat cover would look and feel really nice. Does anyone have
a pattern for a seat cover they could share?

I totally agree that leather seat covers are great… that is why
Unicycle.com have had some commissioned. We have had them in the UK
for the last 6 months and they will be able to buy in the US in next
few weeks.

They gave some surprising advantages, they do not appear to wear! I have
had mine on my 20" unicycle for over 6 months and it still looks brand
new. They also feel smoother and more comfortable to ride, not sure why
but they just do.

I believe my leather uni saddle cover ( black and very nice) came from
www.unicycle.uk.com Paul gave it too me for my birthday this year, a
lovley pressie and it looks so much nicer on the coker than a babysick
green and white Miyata, even with the green bumpers still on.

If you take off the Miyata bumpers and cover them with a couple of layers
of black athletic tape (or gaffer tape etc), then put them back on, you’ll
be rid of the babysick green completely! (Plus, the handle will feel
better to your hand.)
