I agree with most people here, boyband covers are the worst.
another weird cover i heard once was a punk/ska cover of the goodbye song (whatever the hell it’s called) from the sound of music. That was hillarious! I can’t remember who did it, but it was really funny. The cover of My favourite things that has just come out is terrible though.
I like the way Weird Al Yankovic twists lyrics in the covers that he does. I also like ‘Go your own way’ covered by NOFX. I like most of Garage Inc/Garage Days by Metallica which are all covers. ‘Am I Evil’ and ‘The Prince’ in particular. As for the worst I don’t really pay much attention to them. There are too many bad covers and songs around which don’t fit my taste in music.
One song that hasn’t been covered (tot he best of my knowledge) but should be because it is such a great song is 21st Century Schizoid Man by King Crimson.
Never heard of pink ego box. what cd is that on? I’ve got both albums, but I only heard the any williams cover on TV, which I presume you didn’t see, seeing as it was only on in the UK. Haven’t given in to Hullabaloo yet, though its only a matter of time. Also eagerly awaiting a new album, especially seeing as it’ll probably mean a gig in nottingham.
At this very moment, WFMU, a commercial free NJ station is playing all covers of Led Zeppelin. I do love streaming!
They played the Dollly “Stairway to Heavan” cover which while I wouldn’t say it sucks, does seem rather pointless.
They also played a Japanese punk band version of Dazed and Confused, an Irish folk music version of Rock n Roll, and my favorite so far, Moby Dick done by a Jean Luc Ponte style band.
i’d quite forgotten about it and must mention the johnny cash version of nine inch nails’ ‘hurt’
i have never been moved to tears by any other piece of music (and it’s accompanying video) before
has to be Jimmi hendrix’s version of all along the watchtower. to my surprise a few weeks ago i found out that bob dylan did it origonally. jimmi’s is far better:D
Cake’s rendition of I Will Survive and Golfinger’s 99 Red Balloons were already covered. So I’ll have to go with Reel Big Fish’s cover of Brown Eyed Girl.
I can’t believe no one has mentioned "me first and the gimmee gimmee’s…
great band. all covers.
my favorites of theirs are “mandy”, “rocket man”, and “me and hoolio…”
my dad even likes them… (hes forty-… something, i think…)
all you older gnetlemen, and ladies… should give em a listen…
they’re kind of punky, but more rock. the covers are so much more than just cannibalized versions of the originals.
great instrumentation as well, not just a bunch of untalented snotty kids playing two chord versions of classics because they’re to uncreative to write their own. these guys are truly artistic.
