I got a computer mic for ten dollars yesterday. To be frank, it sucks. Im planning on making a documentry style part for my film and i need a mic with good sound quality. Anyone know of any higher quality computer mics that will give me better sound?
You thought something that cost $10 wasn’t gonna suck?
i didnt think it was going to be fantastic, i just wanted to see if it would work. Any way, any one know of a really good quality computer mic?
yeah, a “rode broadcaster” running thru a Yamaha 03D desk
works fine for me
kidding, wait till john childs gets to this thread
I know zilch about microphones and recording. If I was looking to do a good recording I’d go visit my brother who has a full blown studio in his basement.
I would expect all of the computer mics with an 1/8" plug to sound like you’re talking through a telephone. Most mics with a 1/4" plug probably wouldn’t sound much better. The good mics use an XLR plug and require that you plug them in to a mixer.
You could use a program like Audacity to clean up the audio by adding equalization and filters to make it sound better. I know zilch about how to do that. I just know that it can be done and that’s a piece of software that can do it.
