Complete the Lyrics

OK, like the Movie quotes thread, here is one where you complete the phrase in the song. This one was a topic of conversation at work today:

“Always on the outside of whatever side there was…”

PS A predictable beginning from me.

Re: Complete the Lyrics

My first thought was “Dylan”, which I see is correct. But I had to cheat (Google) for the answer so I am not qualified to answer the rest of the lyric.

… So I assume no one knows the answer?

I’m thinkin’ “Joey”

Bingo.

Always on the outside of whatever side there was.
When they asked him why it had to be that way, “well”, he answered, “just because.”

Faceless, nameless, innocent, blameless, and free…

Faceless, nameless, innocent, blameless, and free,
What’s that like to be?

OK, that’s Natalie Merchant, an absolute goddess, from the title track of her album Motherland.

Here’s one that should be easy:

Sickness will surely take the mind
where minds don’t usually go…

…Come on the amazing journey
and learn all you should know. - The Who

What, am I boring you people???

Here’s another:

Love is like a case of anthrax…

If I had the chance, I would have gotten the Tommy quote. I guess I wasn’t around. I can’t get your anthrax quote.

I started a new thread on this.

Gang of Four: Love Like Anthrax

Love is like a case of anthrax
and that’s something I don’t want to catch.

OK, how about this one:

Faith has been broken, tears must be cried…

“What we’ve got here is failure to communicate…”

I couldn’t believe when, in grade 9 at high school, my science teacher quoted this and asked if anyone could tell him who it was!

The problem is most of the music I like either is only instrumental or has lyrics but the band is less well-known.

Andrew

My brother gave me the movie Cool Hand Luke for Christmas last year. It’s quite a classic and one of my dad’s favorite movies.

That line made it into the song “Civil War” by Guns 'N Roses, but they took that line and the audio from the movie.

I didn’t realise that, thanks.

You should watch the movie Cool Hand Luke some time. It’s a great movie in an old classic movie sort of way. You can read the story of the movie here. One of these day’s I’ll have to copy that section of the movie with the “What we’ve got here is failure to communicate” speech. It’s one of the memorable lines in the movie.

Andrew,

You broke etiquette by posting this without an attempt at finishing the one which was already up.

BillytheMountain at least had the somewhat courteous, if not odd, solution of starting an identically titled thread.

But I will chim in by saying that Cool Hand Luke is a classic that should be seen.

Anyway, I repeat:

“Faith has been broken, tears must be cried…”

Sorry, I guess I skimmed through thread thread too quickly and missed that part. Well here’s an effort to make up for it…

“…Let’s do some living after we die.”
Velvet Empire - Wild Horses

Sorry,
Andrew

Just busting chops, Andrew. Anyway, I have no idea who Velvet Empire is, but of course, it was the Rolling Stones who originally did this song.

Well I’ve never heard either of the songs.

Andrew

“Red hair and black leather; my favorite color scheme.”

Wow, I’ve been listening that song to death lately. The Del McCoury cover.

He pulled her on behind and
down to Knoxviiiilllle…they did ride.

Ok, in honor of this performers recent gig in my neighborhood:

“Stop Freecloud…”
