Compact Flash card goes bye-bye

We use a Compact Flash card in our Cannon digital camera and the 128mb DaneElec card we purchased over Ebay is giving us fits. Very sadly, I couldn’t attend Ben’s wrestling meet yesterday afternoon so Mary recorded his matches in video clip format. At the very last moment of recording, the card almost proudly declared “Memory Card Error”…again. It dashed my hopes of seeing Ben’s events and I came close to looking up seppuku instructional websites on the internet for the rest of the evening.

Its happened about three times now and each time, we’ve reformatted the card in hopes that it was just a glitch. But after the third time, we gave up and bought a new one at Wal-Mart this afternoon.

This type of memory card is new technology to me. Are we doing something wrong or does it appear to be just a bad card? Any experienced input would help keep me from an afternoon of swordplay.

Thanks,
Bruce

All I have is hear-say, but apparnetly the ‘budget versions’ of those cards are worth steering clear of. None of the memory card failing stories I have heard (there have only been 2 or 3, and now yours) has always been on a type of card that was of a cheaper type that what came with the camera.
