Coker dreams

I had my first unicycling dream last night! It was the “Spy Movie” type dream,
which is usually fun. But getting away from the bad guys was a little easier
than usual, since I was on my Coker. As I started down the snow-slope(!), I was
pedalling, but soon came to a slight drop-off, so I slid all the way down,
‘surfing’. I got so far ahead of the bad guys that I took time to pee, stopping
the Coker at the top of a hill, and melting a big hole in the snow. Then I woke
up and went to the bathroom. The dream was so vivid - and I could remember every
detail, which isn’t usual for me.

I’ve been unicycling almost 2 years, and juggling for almost 30, but I don’t
remember a single dream with juggling. Anyone else ever dream of riding a uni?
This one was great - no falls, and a great feeling sliding down the snow.

I have lots of uni dreams! They’re fun. One night during Unicycle Across
Minnesota I was trying to sleep, and I was very thirsty but too tired to get up.
I’d drift off to sleep and dream of unicycling on the road… and then I’d see
the RV up ahead (symbolizing a break) and I’d shout (in my dream) “There’s the
RV!” and wake myself up!

Re: Coker dreams

I have one uni dream where I’m riding along, building up some steam, and then I
start to coast, with my feet still on the pedals. The cranks don’t move; it’s as
if I were riding with no hands on a bike, except I’m on my uni. In my dream, I’m
always really excited after I find out I can do this, and then I’m bummed after
I wake up and realize that I was just dreaming.

I hate it when I dream about peeing, though. It always freaks me out when I
wake up… Thankfully, I’ve never had any unpleasant surprises–not even when I
was little.

Re: Coker dreams

Once I dreamt I could coast indefinitely, and even steer. I just sat on
top, feet on the fork, arms crossed, zipping from place to place by force
of will alone.

Re: Coker dreams

Several months ago after Kris posted some tips on high side-jumping (seat in
front, catch the pedal/crank and then jump the rest of the way), I dreamt that
night that I was doing it. It was an amazing feeling! The next morning I awoke
to find myself on top of the bedside dresser. Hmmmm.

Quite often my dream will include uniing, last week i dreamt I was on a UAM like
trip, I wasn’t when I woke up tho, unlike Tammy.

I guess it’s just another of those " you know your a uni freak when…"
things. sarah

I’ve had many, though the more common ones involve not being ready for the
upcoming conventions; the usual anxiety thing. But I do remember long ago a
dream of watching Floyd Crandall performing. Floyd’s dad started the Pontiac
Unicycle club in the late 60’s, and hosted the first USA Nationals in 1973, with
Floyd winning lots of the awards over the years.

He did a lot of tricks above the wheel, standing on it. He sideways wheel walked
in one direction, then faced backwards on the front and pushed the wheel under
him, then sideways wheel walked the other side, then was on the back doing
something similar. At that time, only plain old sideways wheel walking was being
done by a very few people. Now most of that stuff is being done at the
conventions, though I’ve never seen the whole sequence…

I forgot to reply to this when I first saw it, but interestingly enough, I’d
just had a dream about a Coker a few days before you posted this!

In my dream, I was unicycling around a large park, which had either a sidewalk
or a bike path that ran around the perimeter. I was riding a Coker on the
sidewalk. Apparently my family had moved locations while I’d gone to the car to
get something and I was riding around looking for them. I remember thinking it
sure felt like a smooth ride…and I had to expend some extra effort going up a
hill on it. Guess it was a pretty realistic dream (I presume, having never
actually ridden a Coker!).

Steering while coasting is relatively easy. It’s the “indefinitely” most of us
have a hard time with…

The dream becomes reality?

I have a forward only drive “standard” unicycle which can be ridden by applying
forward only pressure on the pedals. Upon reaching the desired speed, simply
stop pedaling with feet still on the pedals and coast!

The cycle has a special hub consisting of a hub shell with clutch bearing and a
regular bearing holding a flangeless (bare) 5/8" axle. Pedaling forward engages
the clutch bearing and thus fixes the axle to the hub shell and thus provides
forward motion. Pedaling in the opposite direction or stop pedaling, disengages
the clutch bearing (it now performs as a regular bearing) and the hub shell and
axle free wheel with respect to each other (and thus one is coasting!).

This week I’ve tryed to recall what I dreamt about, so far unis have been in at
least one dream a night, last night I was about to unicycle south in Denmark, to
a town i didn’t know the name of with no map and not speaking any usefull
danish. Then my milkfloat was made all muddy and I had to clear it up . And
aviod getting eaten by the black dog or the white dog with 6 legs as i walked
across a hillside. It was a dream Ok it doesn’t have to make sence.

Re: Coker dreams

I had a real WEIRD dream last night which seemed to take forever.

Everyone was cheering!! The deep end was clear of people. I was on my Coker
attempting to complete a dive into the local public pool. I took off to dive.
Upon reaching the end of the diving board, I hopped to dive. When I came down
for the bounce, my Coker stuck to the end of the diving board. I went up into
the air to complete my dive, tucked into a fetal type position, & started a
forward twist. At the apex of the dive, I remained suspended in mid-air,
twisting. Throughout the rest of the dream, I remained twisting in mid-air
unable to complete my dive with the Coker still upright at the end of the now
almost motionless diving board. Needless to say, I woke up exhausted & extremely
unrested…

I think that I was so afraid to leave my Coker at the end of the board, I just
couldn’t complete the dive without it…

Like I said, “weird.”

Shane

P.S. I’m going to the pool today to get some “closure.” he he he.

I’m back to dreaming about unis, maybe its reading this thread that does it,
last nights had paul and myself in a race with MTBs only we got sidetracked by
first the pub, then a swimming pool and then a fantastic ice rink type place
with hills and ski tows and stuff. never did find out if we crossed the finish
line as I woke up whilst watching the ice slope disolve into bubbles, still had
my uni by me tho. It was a fantastic dream.

Yep. You too can work 14 hour days, ride your uni home, then fall into bed
exhausted.

Hi Ken,

how are you mounting. I can imagine riding with forward pressure only, but no
matter how I mount, it always includes some kind of backward pressure (expcept
maybe a jumpt mount).
