Coker Crash!

Hi all!

This past weekend I had quite a spill on my Coker. It seems the local
neighborhood kids get a huge kick out of seeing a grown man on a large uni catch
a football as he cruises by. I’ve also enjoyed doing this as it forces me to
concentrate on staying up AND catching a pass.

Well, last Satuday I apparently did not concentrate enough on the uni and went
down hard “leaping” for an overthrown ball. The damage: scuffed saddle front and
rear, road rash on palm of hand, right knee, calf, thigh, shoulder and a nice
lump on my right cheekbone.

As a result, I think I’ll start wearing gloves and perhaps a helmet when I
ride the Coker. Also, I think my football season might be over (for a while
at least).

Has anyone else tried to play football (American style only, obviously) on a
uni? If so, what were your experiences?

Take care,

John

Re: Coker Crash!

I’ve learned about the importance of wearing protective gear on big wheel
unicycles after quite a few visits to the emergency room. I wear so much stuff
that people have called me “ROBO-COP”. I only had one bad spill on the coker
though. Speeding forward I didn’t take notice of a hanging chain that was
dividing two parking lots, talk about “Air Time”. I flew several yards and
landed shoulder first on ruff pavement, ouch! Of course my shoulder was the only
area not protected. But you can’t stop the Uni-man!
