What have long distance riders found to be the best brake set up on a coker?
I was considering a magura hydraulic brake but Tony suggested a V brake attached to a gear shifter would be better.
Are brakes used sporadicly or are they applied and held at the same pressure for long periods of time? I really like the smoothness and power of hydraulic brakes but I can see the benefit of perhaps being able to set a brake at a particular level and then not have to hold it.
Anyone from EUT have suggestions? Who else has a brake on their Coker?
just try the damned hydraulic, besides they are just so sweet!
if worse comes to worse, you could put it on a Muni later. I personally dont really like the shifter for a lever. but who am I to talk about brakes of cokers?
In my opinion, a brake is absolutely necessary for long distance riding that
I would do (meaning I would never consider a flat ride!)

I used Magura’s from my Muni for a couple of weeks on my Coker because my V-Brake bracket was defective and I could not use V-Brakes comfortably.
Maguras are great for stopping, but a drag break is better for long downs. I would only consider a on/off break for lots of short steep downs.
The ideal setup is to rig both an on/off brake and drag with either a V or Magura brake. I don’t think a Magura will give you a practical reason to choose it though. The steel braided cables are nice looking though…
