Coasting

mmm too close in resemblance to a bike for my liking…:stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Here, this should help

Yes, it was. I added “gear” to the search criteria and found a few patents that referenced Hagen’s patent. I then followed the patent search engine links to find this reference:

Delphion sells patent information for a fee, all you can get from this link is a rough idea of Hagen’s device. There are quite a few patents that reference Hagen’s; some of them might be useful.

Good find. I had replaced ‘system’ with ‘gear’ and ploughed (plowed?)
through the first few results pages without success.

You can also download the first page as a pdf file. I may be able to
retrieve the rest (due to work). But I may not pursue that, it is not
too interesting in my view, as it would not be applicable in a regular
uni without a chain drive. I had hoped for something like an
internally geared hub.

Hi am new to unicycling. I was wondering…since there already are brakes added to unicycles, perhaps in later somebody could invent something like a brake handle for coasting?

I mean a unicycle that behaves like normal peddling forwards and back…when the “brake” handle is squeezed…it is switched to coasting mode. i.e. unicycle only peddles forward and not when backward or idling.

that would make unicycles REALLY useful transporation tool

probably already been said- but theres one in the twnr preview. i want one too.

Yea, the one in TWNR is the one that my brother and I built. I made a small video of me riding it, which can be found here
