A relatively recent development in high school sports: Girls wrestling against boys. Because of the lack of participation in the sport by girls, the females that have chosen this activity have had to be pitted against boys.
Based on these two comments, the first article is incorrect:
“One thing that coaches, parents and wrestlers — both boys and girls — agree on is that sex is the last thing on wrestlers’ minds as they pull and push and turn their partners, same sex or opposite.”
I think he’d fall more in line with the second article.
Your saying the NY Times could actually be wrong? At least they were quoting someone who was wrong.
I can’t see how any normally functioning hot-blooded male could not think of what female parts he was grabbing when he was wrestling a girl. It’s beyond me how anyone could think otherwise.
I always used to get boners in middle school gym, hated it so bad! Then my crazy English teacher who was hot hot hot, always bending and giggling and calling us to the board. Stupid hot, cute, funny, bubbly teacher. Middle school was nothing but sexual frustration. I don’t think wrestling girls would have helped. I could pitch a tent just seeing a female period.
But if it were me a in that situation… i guess i would wrestle her serious… and then ask her on a date after to see if she really wanted to “wrestle” …
My graphic design teacher told me that they would probably offer up a boy volleyball team, and if not enough guys signed up to play, oh well, they at least tried. And that is all they have to do.
Based on the general direction of this conversation, I have this feeling that bwner control isn’t a past tense thing for many of you.
If you guy wrestlers are so worried about getting worked up by wrestling a girl, I suggest you get a couple rolls of athletic tape and strap that thing to one of your legs.
I read the article in world magazine yesterday, and found it quite interesting. Certainly a good topic. Almost as good as “nipples” or “shirtless”.
Co-ed wrestling is simply not fair. As the NY times article said:
“If boys and girls wrestle together, it’s physically harder for the girl, but mentally harder for the boy.”
Guys are gonna be self conscious about losing to a girl, wondering if its right to treat girls so rough, and trying not to think about having sex with her.
Wrestling is about wrestling, not about sex.
Also, say if a guy and girl were wrestling full contact at school for fun, wouldn’t it violate school rules? Then why is it ok at a wrestling tournament?
Because a wrestling tournament doesn’t go by school rules, it has it’s own set of general rules that apply to all wrestling probably, just like anything else.
Playing baseball in school would violate the schools runes as well.
No, nothing to share. But I do know a guy who did the tape thing, but rather than keeping it down, it pulled his leg up with such force that he broke two teeth with his knee.
